New World will start another beta in September 2021, this time an open beta. That’s all nice and good, but does anyone really want to play another beta after which everything is lost again? We looked at the feedback from the community and want to know your opinion as well.
What’s the new beta all about? As many have suspected, there will actually be a 2nd beta in New World. This was revealed at gamescom 2021. It will be an open beta that everyone can participate in. It starts on September 9, and the beta ends again on September 13. The release of New World is then on September 28, 2021.
Players want to finally get to the endgame and play seriously, not grind through the starting area multiple times
What’s the mood in the community? When New World was recently postponed again, the developers stated, that no further content would be added to the game, but only to make the game run properly and prepare it for release. In the related article, we at MeinMMO also speculated about a possible 2nd beta.
That, in turn, generated a lot of feedback from you readers.
These are the positive opinions: Some of you thought it was good that New World is adding another test. Especially a stress test, which the open beta apparently is (too), makes sense for some of you.
Furthermore, I hope that Amazon really adds another test and brings the access for pre-order customers forward by 1-2 days; that would also reduce the server stress for the official release.

Then definitely weekend stress tests and to fix the login issues for Deluxe players 2-3 days earlier access would be good.

Two months tweaking the game and then going into release without a major test would be quite risky. A beta, possibly even an open one, to test the current build and server stability under (full) load would be appropriate.

There could be targeted betas. For example, one weekend focused on 50 vs. 50 fights, another weekend on level 60 PvE content. Or just an introduction to FvF PvP. The last beta didn’t really grab me. I wouldn’t know why I should do PvP in NW.
These are the negative opinions: Others among you are slowly fed up and prefer to play properly instead of wrecking the starting area for a few days again and then facing a hard wipe at the release:
I really enjoyed the beta, played/tested a lot, and constructively complained in the forum. But now it’s enough, and even if another beta were to come, I wouldn’t participate. I’m no longer interested, I want to start… See you at release.

In my opinion, another beta would hardly bring any hype – at least not without new content. All those who are really interested in New World have already taken part in the “open beta” from a week ago.

They could do a beta for content. Meaning, you get a character at level 60 and can try out dungeons and fortresses. A beta where you start over again and there’s a wipe makes no sense to me.
