Bots and gold farmers have been a major problem shortly after the release of New World. Amazon has now announced that steps have already been taken to suspend thousands of accounts. It is also disclosed where you can report if you have been banned by mistake.
Update October 15: It seems that there have indeed been incorrect suspensions.
What has been announced? As Community Manager TrevzorFTW mentioned in the New World forum, initial steps have been taken to suspend “thousands of fraudulent accounts”. Focus is also on gold farmers and bots.
At the same time, he posted a link to Amazon’s support, which you can contact if you have been wrongly suspended and wish to appeal.
Will the ban wave also address problems in PvP? In addition to bots, false reports are currently a problem, with players being unjustly banned for 24 hours and thus unable to participate in wars.
The post by TrevzorFTW does not mention a ban for these false reports. However, they could still be included under “fraudulent accounts”.
Attention adventurers,
we have received your inquiries and have already taken initial steps to remove thousands of fraudulent accounts, including gold farmers and bots! If one of your accounts has been wrongly affected, you can contact us through the following link, Appeal a Ban – Support | Amazon Games 12, to rectify the error. We sincerely thank you for your loyal support. See you in Aeternum!
Why are bots such a problem in New World? Bots not only occupy the few free slots on a server but also destroy its economy. In many trading posts, there are hardly any items left that have a higher value. The more bots are on a server, the worse the situation becomes.
Players have therefore developed their own methods to combat bots.
Players kill bots with wild animals
What are players doing against bots? There are repeatedly stories and video clips in which players try to kill bots in various places, even though these have no active PvP.
For example, a user tries to push bots that are currently mining ores off a cliff to prevent them from farming automatically.
Recently, we reported on a player who attacked a wolf and drew it to the bot. The player then positioned himself so that the wolf would attack both him and the bot during an attack. Ultimately, the AFK fisher was defeated.
