In New World there are various debuffs that play an important role in both PvE and PvP. In this guide, we explain what the individual debuffs are and what they do.
What debuffs are there? In New World, there are eight different debuffs:
- Slow – Reduces movement speed by 50%
- Rupture – Reduces damage absorption by 30%
- Weakness – Reduces the opponent’s damage by 50%
- Disease – Reduces healing received by 50%
- Exhaustion – Reduces stamina regeneration
- Silence – Prevents the use of abilities
- Root – Prevents movement while allowing attacks and abilities to continue
- Stun – Disables all actions
These debuffs play an important role, especially in PvP. Particularly important are stuns, silence, and disease. This way, you can control opponents, prevent abilities, and reduce healing received.
In PvE, it is important that Rend is active on opponents so the group can deal more damage. Additionally, there are certain abilities that activate or trigger bonus damage when enemies are hit with an active debuff.
Do DoTs count as debuffs? No, burning, poison, and bleeding do not count as debuffs, but have their own category.
You must master buffs, debuffs, and the different types of damage
What can you do against debuffs? Debuffs typically expire on their own. However, there is also the effect “Cleanse” through which you can remove all debuffs from yourself. Additionally, there are abilities that remove specific debuffs.
What important aspects are there besides debuffs? Debuffs play an important role when you want to deal maximum damage while controlling opponents. But there are two other important aspects you should know.
On one hand, there are buffs. Empowerment increases your damage, reinforcement strengthens your defense, and haste makes you run faster.
On the other hand, the different types of damage such as slash, stab, or elemental damage are important. Here we have summarized everything about it: What damage types are there and against whom do they deal the most damage? It plays a crucial role which type of opponent you are fighting.
The combat system of New World does not consist of learning complicated rotations, but has a tactical component where positioning and dodging are essential.
