Players are eagerly waiting for patch 1.0.6 for New World. The big update brings a new weapon, quests, and enemies. We show you before the patch notes what is officially included and what the community is most excited about.
What do we know about patch 1.0.6? While everyone calls it the patch this way, it is still unclear whether the version number will indeed be such, or if the developers will jump straight to patch 1.1.
- The update 1.0.6 is expected to be released this week (from November 15 to November 21)
- For the sake of this update, even the smaller patch was skipped last week
- The new weapon “Void Gauntlet” comes into play
- Legendary Void Gauntlet quests are coming – you must have reached level 60 and have a weapon level of 20 with the Void Gauntlet
- New enemy models in the form of swarm mages, beetles, pirate alligators, and more are coming into play
- You will find new quests in West Everfall
- Additionally, three new faction missions for PvP are being added
The new content of patch 1.0.6 in detail
New weapon: The Void Gauntlet are weapons that you can use for the purpose of DPS and support. Officially, it is stated that it is the first weapon that scales with Intelligence and Focus. It is said to work particularly well in combination with the Life Staff.
In the “Destruction” tree, it is about your melee damage and the “Void Blade”, which is a summoned blade made of decaying void energy.
In the “Decay” tree, it is about healing from a distance and debuffs. You use the Orb of Decay, which weakens enemies and heals allies.
Due to the many buffs and debuffs that you distribute with the Void Gauntlet, the weapon should be well suited for group play. A first look is already available:
New enemies: As new enemies, you will find the Varangian Hunters after the update 1.0.6 in New World. They come from the north and established war camps and even a fort that you will find in Everfall. The new enemies include
- Varangian Butchers
- Varangian Scouts
- Varangian Knights (range 16 to 20)
- Varangian Archers (range 16 to 20)
You learn in a quest from Abigail Rose in the western wilderness of Everfall why the Varangian Hunters are now in Aeternum and why more of them are coming.
New enemy types will also be added that you can find throughout Aeternum. These include:
- The Scrawny Swarm Mage
- Beetles
- The Lost Shaman
- The Pirate Alligator
- The Ancestor Guardian Fire Mage
- and the improved Corrupted Workers
What else is coming? In addition to the new Void Gauntlet and enemies, New World is bringing more content in patch 1.0.6.
- The new Legendary weapon quests for the Void Gauntlet
- You must have completed “Magaki’s Stratagem” in Broken Mountain and the quest line from Legatus Fulvius in Brackwater to qualify
- Additionally, you must have reached level 60 and achieved the maximum skill level with the Void Gauntlet
- Improved main story quests
- New task types and quest variants are intended to bring variety to the main story. This includes wave events, destructible objects, and proximity nodes for tracking. Further improvements are still in the works
- The PTR servers for New World are already here – You can test new patches before release on the live servers.
- PvP faction missions in the form of these 3 tasks:
- Control Points – In these missions, you must take control of fortifications
- Interception – Defeat enemy faction members and collect their tears
- War Camp Loot – Find hidden plans in the enemy war camp
- Trading posts will be linked
- All trading posts now offer the same goods – you can buy and sell them anywhere. The fees for buy and sell orders depend on the settlement where you place them. The same goes for transaction taxes.

I keep realizing: It’s worth it to take your time with a game and not try to reach max level at record speed😜. Looking forward to it! And in early December, FFXIV Endwalker comes along and Genshin as well. So I have enough to do.”
- Threepwood writes: “Sounds really good, especially the PTS. It is desperately needed by AGS. However, I hope that either in this patch or preferably before, the other weapons will be fixed and balanced. A new weapon should really only be prioritized once the rest works. Rapidfire is back and there are too many bugs with weapons in general. Additionally, they should also bring QoL features. Overall, the patch won’t be a game-changer, but theoretically, a steady increase is already visible. Hopefully also in quality.”
