New World has published a post explaining the rules for server transfers. MeinMMO summarizes the most important information for you.
What are these transfers? Amazon has already announced that free server transfers are coming to New World. This allows you to move your characters to another server – even for a transfer at the beginning for free.
This is intended to alleviate the full servers of New World somewhat – and probably the queues will also be a bit shorter as a result. In our hub on MeinMMO, you can read everything you need to know about server transfers in New World.
How to use the transfer: In a post in the forum, the development team explains how exactly a free transfer will take place. You just need to follow a few steps:
- log in with the character to be transferred – even if you have to go through a queue
- navigate to the shop and look for the tab “Transfer”, claim the transfer token stored there
- leave your company if you are in one
- remove all ongoing auctions from the trading post
- stand in a city or outpost
The explanation stops here, but we assume that you will have to use the token to select a target server afterwards. The context menu of the token itself will probably provide an explanation.
On reddit, some fans are already discussing whether these tokens can be “stored” after being claimed. If the free phase ends, they want to be able to transfer for free later, in case their server changes again.
FAQ about server transfers in New World – rules and possibilities
When will the transfers come? There is still no specific date. The wording mentioned “this week”, but it says in the post that there were some difficulties. They want to improve these, but it will take a little longer. At the moment, they expect “next week”, starting from October 11.
Is it only possible once? No, in the future, the tokens will apparently be available for purchase, as stated in the post. However, this service will then be chargeable, only the first transfer is free. It is also possible that more free tokens will be issued in the future.
To which servers can I transfer? All servers in your region that are not already full should initially be possible as targets. Basically, the world must not be full, must not be undergoing maintenance, and you may not already have a character there. In Germany, many servers are already blocked for new characters. Players like MeinMMO author Mark Sellner might be especially pleased if they hit completely empty servers:
What can I take with me? You retain all character progress and inventory, your faction and your rank there, your houses including facilities, and all currencies you have collected. Only your friends list and your standing in the company, as well as any remaining auctions in the trading post will be lost.
Even now, there are countless players and even entire companies that have announced they are waiting to transfer servers as soon as the option becomes available.
With the transfers, the concentrated mass of players is expected to spread from a few servers to significantly more. Whether this will work as intended or whether new population centers will emerge remains to be seen.
