On September 28, the MMO New World officially released, and on October 1, the first players reached level 60. We at MeinMMO will reveal how long it took.
Who was the first to reach max level? In New World, some players and streamers competed to be the first to reach level 60 and set a special record.
Player Larsen declared himself the first player to reach level 60 during his livestream. He achieved this level on October 1 around 3:00 AM German time.
He celebrated the moment with his guild and faction and recorded it in a Twitch clip:
Is he really the first player at level 60? This cannot be said for certain, as there are no official statistics or leaderboards. However, no one claimed this title before Larsen. There are no videos on YouTube or Twitch, posts on Twitter, or entries on the official reddit.
It is considered very likely that he was indeed the first player to reach max level in New World.
How long did it take? Larsen did not release a specific playtime. However, based on his livestreams, one can estimate how many hours he invested:
- On Tuesday, he started streaming right at the server launch and managed the first 2 hours without queuing. After a nearly 40-minute interruption, he streamed continuously for about 18 more hours.
- On Wednesday, Larsen streamed for about 13 hours completely without interruption or queuing.
- The following Thursday, he had another stream for around 23 hours without interruption. There he finally made the jump to level 60.
Larsen must have needed around 55 hours of playtime to reach max level in New World.
During the run to level 60, he reportedly hardly slept and did not use any special tricks, such as having other players sacrifice themselves for him in PvP.
How is the success being received? While some celebrate Larsen’s world first on reddit and Twitch, others criticize that the achievement cannot be easily compared due to the many queues. Not every player had the same chances of being the first to reach max level (via reddit).
Is he currently the only player at level 60? No, throughout the day more players reached level 60 as well. However, it seems that no one else accomplished it before him.
