The beta for the new MMO New World finally starts in July. We at MeinMMO will tell you how to sign up for the beta, what happens in it, and what will happen with the game after the release. The start date of the beta that you need to remember is July 23.
Update August 24: In the meantime, New World has not only postponed the start of the beta, but also the release of the MMO to 2021. Nevertheless, a preview event will take place on August 25 as a small substitute for the beta.

During the PC Gaming Show, Amazon announced that the closed beta for New World will start on Thursday, July 23. Originally, the beta test was supposed to start in April 2020 but was postponed along with the release of the MMO.
On the official website of New World, you can currently register for the beta. Whether you are in it will be communicated to you via a mail, likely similar to the alpha. Pre-orders of New World however, automatically and guaranteed participate in the closed beta.
The beta of New World is expected to run until the release of the game on August 25.
In the announcement of the reworking of New World in December 2019, it was stated that the NDA of New World would lift with the start of the beta.
Therefore, there is nothing to prevent a stream on Twitch, YouTube, or any other platform.
Beta for New World is for testing and polishing – Start on July 23
What can players expect in the beta? The beta of New World is supposed to already contain all major features that the MMO will offer at release starting July 23.
The beta, in turn, focuses on testing and polishing the existing content, as David Verfaillie, Head of Player Experience, told MeinMMO in an interview:
We release a content patch every month and introduce new content in almost every one of them. As we move towards the beta, we will increasingly focus on polishing and refining the game’s content to prepare it for release.
So, there won’t be many big features, but we will focus on final polishing and adjustments. And also on optimizing the game so it runs smoothly on PCs and is ready for the large number of players who will be entering the game.
We are also working on the scope and stability of the game.

What happens after the beta? Following the closed beta, New World is currently planned for release. After that, a roadmap is expected, and the MMO will be continuously expanded, as Verfaillie told us:
The one thing we have stated and believe 100% is that MMOs are living games. We will continue to support the game and add new content.
If you played the alpha, then you have experienced some pretty large content updates over the past months. There have been months with big and smaller updates, but we will continue to support the game.
And hopefully, we will have more details on the roadmap as we get closer to the launch on August 25.

A new feature after release could be classic dungeons and raids. This content will not be available at launch but could follow if players provide corresponding feedback. The developers already mentioned this in a dev blog.
