The developers of New World have provided a preview of upcoming updates in a new video. These are expected to be released partly by the end of 2022 and then in 2023. Particularly, the first raid boss in the game sounds very exciting. Additionally, a new campaign with Twitch streamers has been announced.
What new content is coming? At the beginning of the video, Scot Lane and his guests discuss adjustments to the roadmap. The following new contents are planned:
- Two new dungeons, the first of which is said to be a unique mix of Amrhein and Starstone.
- The Winter Convergence Event will return in December.
- The sandworm that jumps through Brimstone Sands is to become a real raid boss. It is expected to be available “soon” on the PTR server.
- The Outpost Rush is expected to offer “soon” cross-server queues. This will especially help smaller servers to play more often in this mode.
- A better transmog system will be introduced.
- There will be a better system for managing multiple gear sets. This is particularly necessary for mutations in dungeons.
- A new event is planned for spring, which will then be repeated annually.
- New crafting skills will be introduced. No specific details have been revealed.
Additionally, Lane revealed that the leaderboards for PvP arenas from the last roadmap were not completed in time and will be postponed further for now.
Several weeks earlier, Lane had told streamer Asmongold that mounts are also in the works (via YouTube). We have painfully missed them in the new area Brimstone Sands. However, it is currently unclear whether they will be released at the beginning of 2023. They were not mentioned in this dev update.
Weapons will be adjusted faster, wars will get a practice mode
What else was discussed in the video? Regarding weapon balance, the developers want to respond quicker and more decisively in the future, so that a weapon doesn’t dominate for weeks or months. A nerf for muskets is likely to come next.
For wars, a feature is planned that will limit the maximum number of wars per day for a player. This will force companies to also rely on players other than the same ones repeatedly. Additionally, there will be a cooldown of 3 days during which you cannot participate in a war after leaving a company.
In the future, “practice wars” are planned, i.e., a practice map for wars. However, these are currently not on the roadmap for the coming months.

New influencer campaign aims to bring streamers back to New World
What is the influencer campaign about? With the “Fresh Start” servers on November 2, New World will launch the “Return to Aeternum” campaign. It’s about which of the four teams can complete the most successes by November 18.
There will also be Twitch Drops for viewers again.
At the event, a new technique will be tested that displays in-game advertisements, which will only be visible in a Twitch stream. You can view an example here on Twitter:
