New World has released its roadmap for the first half of 2023. This includes a new dungeon, transmog, and the first raid boss. However, there are also several major new features planned for the time after that. We at MeinMMO reveal what the MMORPG is set to receive in the future.
What is included in the 2023 roadmap? The developers presented the roadmap for 2023 in a new video. It is divided into two sections:
- In spring, there will be the new expedition “Empyrean Forge,” adjustments to the equipment system, changes to the main storyline from level 25, and a new “Spring Blossom event.”
- Especially the equipment system is interesting here. There will be a storage function that allows you to quickly switch between multiple sets (PvE, PvP, or for specific dungeons).
- In summer, the transmog system for skins, raid groups, the raid boss “Sandworm,” and the Outpost Rush will become cross-server. Also, the Summer Medleyfaire event returns.
This means that some planned new features are pushed back a bit, such as the transmog system, which was originally intended for spring. Furthermore, the roadmap does not include a new weapon, which has surprised some players.
However, there is a disclaimer that not all planned new features are included in the roadmap. So there is a chance of more content.
What’s coming this year? The Winter Convergence Festival, which already took place in 2021, is coming back. New rewards and a new winter boss await you, who works similarly to the turkey.
Additionally, there will be a new mutation for the dungeon Stargrave Hill, mixing fights from the first instance Amrhein Excavation. This mashup is supposed to please fans who requested hard modes for the first dungeons.
Moreover, the patch in December will implement changes to the guilds. This is intended to prevent large groups with multiple companies from controlling the servers. The update will be deployed on December 6, and here you can find the complete patch notes.

New World is set to receive mounts and new crafting skills
What changes are planned beyond the roadmap? In addition to the roadmap, features that are being worked on in the background have been mentioned from time to time. These include more dungeons, raids, and weapons.
However, the topic of mounts is particularly interesting. They have been requested since release and we at MeinMMO have missed them in the new area Brimstone Sands. Here, Scot Lane told Twitch streamer Asmongold that work is already underway on mounts (via YouTube). When they will arrive is still unclear.
Furthermore, in the outlook on the future in October entirely new crafting skills were announced. What exactly will come is still unknown. It will probably involve new crafting professions rather than new gathering professions.
Other planned new features that are not yet included in the roadmap are:
- Practice Wars – a mode to train the wars as a guild
- Leaderboards for arena PvP – expected to come in February
- The next area in the open world
- DAGgers as weapons, with the next weapon focusing on healer/support roles first
