New World is getting a major update in May that focuses entirely on PvP. The highlight is the 3v3 arenas, but the outpost rush and the wars for settlements will also receive new rewards. In the new video, the developers also talked about the dungeon finder, server transfers, and shared interesting statistics.
How will PvP be revised? In May, the 3v3 arenas will finally be released. Additionally, the developers are introducing new rewards for PvP:
- There will be a new reward track for PvP players. It fills up automatically when you participate in PvP activities.
- Additionally, a new currency will be introduced: PvP Salt. This can be exchanged for various rewards.
You will receive these new rewards regardless of whether you participate in the outpost rush, wars for territories, the 3v3 arena, PvP faction missions, or the conquest of forts in the open world.
When is the patch coming? The PvP update is planned for May. There is no exact date yet. A new update focusing mainly on bug fixes and balance will be released in April.
PvP arenas will receive automatic match search and a fire ring
How exactly do the PvP arenas work? In the arenas, the goal is to eliminate the entire opposing team without losing all your players. To prevent the fights from lasting indefinitely, the arena is surrounded by a fire ring that continuously closes in, resulting in a showdown in a small area.
If you want to participate in the arena battles, you can sign up through the interface from anywhere in the world. There is no need to visit a specific NPC.
Registrations can be made alone or as a complete 3-person team.

What else was discussed in the video? At the beginning of the video, the developers talked about the April patch. They especially highlighted minor adjustments in the healing area and the new zoom function. When you are in settlements, the map will be automatically zoomed in when opened.
Furthermore, they talked about events, primarily the currently ongoing killer rabbit event. However, developer Phil Bolus indicated that after the end of the event (sometime in the last week of April), another event will follow.
Finally, the developers provided some additional insights:
- Currently, a dungeon finder is being worked on.
- Affordable server transfers will be coming.
- Work is being done to allow full region transfers (from EU to NA West, for example).
- The bow will be revised to allow for better gameplay flow.
- Various stats were shared, such as 33,000 wars taking place and 8 million dungeons run. The toughest opponent in the game is Captain Thorpe from the dungeon Depths. He caused the most player deaths. Overall, there have been over 413 million player deaths in New World.
How exactly does the dungeon finder work? For this, you can walk to the entrance of a dungeon and create a group search there or join a group.
In the group search, you can specify exactly how many tanks, healers, or damage dealers you want for the group. Additionally, the attribute distribution and weapon proficiency of the players are visible to verify if they can fulfill their role.
