What happens in New World? On July 28, the Summer Medleyfaire update will be released in New World, bringing improvements that will delight almost every type of player. It is the largest update of the MMORPG since its release.
While the patch brings numerous “Quality of Life” improvements, it also includes some real highlights. Among them is the new expedition Barnacles and Black Powder, which will only be unlocked a week after the update.
You will find the entrance to the new expedition at the Harvest Cutter Reef, where there will also be plenty of new tasks for it. Two weeks after the expedition’s release, it will then “mutate” and introduce 3 new mutations. The new expedition is the centerpiece of the big update.
What are the highlights? Aside from the expedition, everything else will be immediately available in the game after the update, including a few real highlights:

- 5 different musical instruments, with which you can play a total of 31 songs. These songs bring you gameplay buffs like reduced load, more gathering luck, or increased territory standing.

- A group search tool for expeditions and the mood balls have also been removed and replaced with time limits.
- Wars now take place in their own instances, relieving the servers further.
- You now receive more loot and can find more items when dismantling equipment.
- Significantly reduced XP requirements for many professions and gathering tasks.

Community celebrates the update and brings back old players

There, players are cheering over the new update, and even many people who had actually given up on the MMORPG announced their return to Aeternum. Especially the changes to the expeditions are being very well received. The group finder tool and the removal of the mood balls create a positive atmosphere in the threads.
But also the musical instruments, the new expedition itself, and the reduced XP costs for improving professions are hitting well with the users. Words of criticism about the summer update are hard to find.
