New World currently has significant issues with numerous ways to generate endless gold from nothing. Because of these gold dupes, Amazon has disabled all systems where money is transferred – thereby creating a new exploit.
What has happened in New World? Just last night, Amazon had to disable all ways to transfer coins because the issues with the gold dupes escalated. Unfortunately, this has also allowed a new error to slip into the MMORPG.
Because precisely with the emergency brake, the disabling of all systems that could have been used for gold duping, a new opportunity has emerged to generate endless money:
- It is still unclear if and when Amazon will address this new error.
- Furthermore, the new exploit only affects a relatively small portion of the player base.
- Nonetheless, it is problematic that the countermeasures against gold dupes have created a new gold exploit.
With the guild treasury disabled, a new exploit emerges
What kind of exploit is it? If you are the consul or leader of a company that has one or more towns, you can take advantage of the error. When selecting a town project, it fails since guild treasuries are currently disabled.
The money is therefore not deducted from your guild account. However, the server recognizes a failure of the action and then refunds you gold. Gold that you never spent or that was never deducted from you.
You thus have the costs of the town project as credit in your guild bank. This brings you little at the moment since you cannot access your guild bank, but it shows that Amazon urgently needs to rectify this situation.
How does Amazon respond? Reports indicate that New World has already started banning the first players who massively exploited the gold exploits. Amazon announced that action would be taken against anyone who has duped gold.
It is still unclear if every player will be banned for this. Amazon is not specific about the measures that might be taken against the players.
Meanwhile, the developers are likely trying to get the remaining gold issues of the MMORPG under control, as all trading options are currently disabled.
You currently cannot use the trading post and direct player trading.
Community is disappointed but not surprised
How does the community react? The reddit thread explaining the exploit is heating up. It currently has over 3,900 upvotes and 723 comments in just 11 hours. The creator of the thread writes: “I have no words for this” and explains the situation (via reddit).
The subsequent comments show disbelief. Players are frustrated and turn their frustration into gallows humor, making some of the comments somewhat funny given the situation.
No one surely finds this situation good, as currently the entire economy of the game is on hold.
