The developers of New World have released a new video discussing the February update and the future of the MMORPG. While February focuses on “Bugs, Bots, and Balance”, new story content is expected in March.
What do the developers say in the video? In the first almost 30 minutes, everything revolves around the big February update:
- The major highlights such as smoother combat, better animations, and the new rewards in Outpost Rush were highlighted.
- The adjustments to the grind, travel costs, and housing were also discussed.
- The only new aspect is that you will now be able to buy a gypsum orb for faction tokens once a day.
- Overall, the patch is expected to fix more than 700 issues, including 350 minor bugs and 225 major improvements.
Following that, there was a discussion about the economy, the Luck attribute, and the lore in the game.
However, the really new information came only at the end of the video. Game Director Scot Lane revealed that with the major update in March, new story content will be implemented in New World. This content is meant to conclude the current storyline. The update will also see the introduction of the new weapon “Thunder Rifle”.
He also promised a major roadmap with the next developer video, which will be released in March.

The economy is stable, adjustments to gear sets are planned
What do the developers say about the economy? In principle, the economy in New World is now said to be stable and “healthy”. Some issues from recent weeks and months are said to have resolved themselves.
In response to new problems, the developers took measures themselves, such as the juniper berry bags that were dropped right after the winter event.
The next major change for the economy will come with taxes for housing:
- The minimum price a company can charge in the settlement has been reduced from 5% to 0.1%.
- The maximum price has been reduced from 10% to 1%.
- A company now receives 5x as many coins as the player pays for the apartment. This is intended to offset the lower income.
What was said about gear? Many players in New World are complaining that they need different armor sets for various content, such as PvP, open world, and mutated dungeons. Even for different mutations, different stats are sometimes needed.
The developers promised a “gear storage system,” but that is expected to take a few more months.
February patch not yet released
What’s going on with the February update? Currently, players in New World are waiting for the next major update. It is supposed to be released in February, but there are only two working days left, so many are suspecting a release at the beginning of March.
When exactly the patch will arrive has not been said yet.
