The first players have already reached the maximum level of 60 in New World. They are slowly starting to enter the endgame of the MMO. But what does New World actually offer there? How will you spend your time later? We at MeinMMO will tell you.
The journey to level 60 can take some time. There are various ways to level up, such as through quests, dungeons, events, or PvP. In this article, we will discuss what exactly is in store after level 60.
Getting the Perfect Gear
In New World, much revolves around the grind for gear. This process occurs in several stages:
- You need to find the perfect gear for yourself
- You need to level every armor slot and weapon type in competence
- You need to level the gear from level 600 (or 590) to level 625
To get the perfect gear, you need to plan for several hundred hours. If you also want to run mutations in dungeons later, you need several perfect gear sets.
How do I find the perfect gear? The perfect gear has an armor value of 600, is legendary, and has attributes that match your weapons and playstyle. You can obtain legendary gear through various means, including crafting. However, this requires you to level your professions.
A bit easier is the direct purchase at the trading post. However, you first need to farm gold.
In addition, there are random drops, such as in endgame dungeons, or certain quests from which you can obtain legendary weapons. For the quest concerning legendary weapons, you must first reach level 20 in the respective weapon mastery, complete several prerequisite quests, and then defeat elite enemies and open chests in the corresponding area.
How do I level competence? Competence is a value that starts at 500 and contributes to your armor value. For from level 60, the average between your armor value and competence is calculated. If, for instance, you purchase a perfect axe with armor value 600 but still have competence of 500, the weapon will be downscaled to an armor value of 550.
You level competence by using gypsum. You can obtain gypsums for dungeons, PvP, crafting beyond level 200, and some other activities. More about the system can be found here: New World: This is how gypsum works and how to level competence quickly.
How do I bring my gear from 600 to 625? For this, you need to use shadow shards. You will also get these through various activities and by using gypsum on items that already have competence of 625.

Maximizing Life Skills
What life skills does New World offer? New World offers 17 different crafting skills that you can level up to 200 to unlock all recipes. Afterwards, you can even go further to get additional rewards.
Just getting one of the gathering skills like logging or mining to max level is said to take between 20 and 60 hours of gameplay. With the gathering skills, you can thus already occupy yourself for at least 120 hours, especially since fishing will consume the most time.
Anyone wanting to bring all life skills to the maximum level will especially have to invest a lot of gold in the crafting professions or farm rare materials through tedious work.
So there is already a huge potential to spend hundreds of hours in New World.
Exploring the World and Leveling Areas
What is there to discover? Admittedly, the world of New World is relatively small compared to many other MMOs. However, the game offers many “points of interest”, locations that you can explore and where you often find small challenges like bosses or elite mobs.
In addition, New World offers numerous side quests that you must first find. Through these, you can earn materials as well as useful gear.
Through the territory reputation, New World has a system that makes it worthwhile to visit low-level areas later on. This way, you can save a lot of gold in crafting or selling at the trading post. Increasing the storage capacity also plays an important role.

Playing and Enjoying Outpost Rush
What is Outpost Rush? Outpost Rush is a so-called PvEvP mode where players fight not only against other players but also against the environment. Two teams of 20 players compete against each other and try to take outposts from each other.
The goal is to reach 1,000 points. However, there are different ways and strategies to achieve this:
- You can gather resources in the area and thus reinforce your outpost
- You can summon powerful NPCs that help you conquer an outpost
- You can kill bosses to gain bonuses and freeze the opponents’ points
- You can kill other players
Why should you play it? Outpost Rush is a very entertaining PvP mode and a good change from the wars over territories in New World. Unfortunately, only players at level 60 can participate in this mode.
Nonetheless, it is a lot of fun and also brings some useful rewards at the end.

Experience Invasions
What are invasions? Invasions are the counterpart to the wars over fortresses but as a PvE mode. At regular intervals, the corrupted attack a fortress and try to conquer it in waves.
If the PvE enemies succeed, there are penalties for the settlement. If you successfully defend, you will receive gold and useful loot as a reward.
However, invasions can only be entered by 50 players. 10 of these are determined by the controlling guild, while the other 40 players are randomly drawn from those signed up.

Doing Mutations, Speedruns or Low-Player-Runs in Dungeons
How do dungeons work in New World? Currently, New World offers you 9 expeditions that you can complete with a group of 3 to 5 players.
- The first expedition – the Amrhein excavation – is already available at level 25.
- After that, it continues leveling in increments of 10.
- The hardest dungeons – the Lazarus Instrumentality, the Garden of Origin, the Heart of the Stormwind, Seepocks, and Black Powder and the Ennead – are designed for players at level 60.

What can you do in the endgame? Aside from the fact that some dungeons can only be played in the endgame, it is typical for MMOs that players try to complete them as quickly or with as few players as possible. There are even leaderboards for such speedruns.
In January 2022, New World also introduced mutations. These are 10 additional difficulty levels that constrain you with additional obstacles and present a great challenge especially at level 10.
Fighting in Wars over Territories
What are wars? Wars are the centerpiece of the endgame of New World. Here, two factions with 50 players each fight for control over a territory on the server.
To start a war, the attacking faction must first earn influence in the specific area. They can, for example, attack forts in the open world. Once sufficient influence is present, a war can be declared. However, the defending faction can set the exact time of the war in advance.
When the time of the war arrives, the attackers attempt to storm the fortress of the defenders. First, they must capture control points outside the fortress before they can destroy the gates and conquer the interior.
The defenders, in turn, can defend themselves with siege weapons and try to keep the points neutral and protect the gates.
A war lasts 30 minutes. If the attackers cannot conquer the fortress within this time, it remains in the possession of the defenders.

Why are the wars so important? The owners of a territory determine the development of the respective settlement and can also charge fees for crafting, trading, and renting houses. Therefore, whoever controls a territory has full control there.
Currently, there are 11 areas that companies can control. There will be a constant battle between the factions for these areas. That is exactly what makes the wars in the endgame so interesting.
Bonus Tip: The journey is the goal
In this overview, we explained to you that players can do everything in the endgame. But New World is not the classic MMO where you should rush to max level quickly.
The game world offers many interesting and beautiful landscapes, the life skills can already be grinded before level 60, and you can even participate in the wars with your joining a faction (around level 13).
