Update 2:45 PM: The situation around the queues is getting worse. The first servers have over 5,000 players and even the small servers are experiencing wait times:
Update 1:30 PM: Since there have been constant inquiries about console versions, here is Amazon’s current statement on that:
Update 12:30 PM: Everything is still functioning, but the queues are slowly getting longer. We would like to know how you are finding New World so far:
Tell us: How do you like the MMO New World after the first few hours?
Update 11:30 AM: The new German server Suddene currently has no wait time. So if you want to play New World, you should go there. It’s crazy that on the German servers Ravenal and Utgard, over 2,000 players are each in the queue.
Update 11:20 AM: I expressed my concerns about the server situation and wrote a small column about it. Ideal reading material while waiting in line:
I suspected that the launch of New World would be bad, but I was still furious.
Update 11:05 AM: The American servers are now also undergoing a 90-minute maintenance, just like we did in the morning. New servers are also supposed to be released there. This shouldn’t affect us in Europe.
Update 11:00 AM: The world Vargon, which caused problems all day yesterday, is now back up, along with the characters you had already created:
The world Vagon should now be back online and available, including the characters you had previously created. As described, you can continue playing on that world or, if you decide, delete your characters and start fresh on a new world (including your character name).
We apologize for the world issues and for the time it took to provide a solution. Please let us know if any further issues occur with the world.
Update 10:10 AM: We at MeinMMO have created a new guide, this time for Healer builds in New World.
Update 10:00 AM: There is still no statement regarding the issues with the companies. However, if you want to play this morning, you should already prepare for queues on the large servers. A silver lining: Some new servers currently have no queues.
Update 8:10 AM: It seems that nobody is in their company after the restart. I myself am no longer in it, the leader of the guild isn’t either, and many are complaining in the server chat that they are no longer part of any company.
Update 8:05 AM: The servers are back online!
Update 8:01 AM: Servers are still in maintenance mode. We will inform you when they go live or if there is a statement from Amazon about an extension.
Update 7:12 AM: All servers in Europe are currently undergoing maintenance. If you were hoping to play this morning, you will be disappointed for now.
The maintenance runs from 6:30 AM until approximately 8:00 AM. It is intended to prepare the servers for further worlds to be released.
Update 7:10 AM: Good morning and welcome to day 2 with New World. Today, we at MeinMMO will again inform you about everything related to the servers and queues as well as what is currently happening in New World.
Update 9:00 PM: With this picture of the current server situation, we bid farewell for today from the ticker. We will inform you again tomorrow morning directly about queues, problems, and the latest news about New World.
We also have a small guide on the topic of iron ore: Here’s how to find iron ore in New World.
Update 8:30 PM: The servers are definitely back online. We even managed to sneak by the queue and are now in the game, unlike before the crash.
Update 8:10 PM: Some EU servers seem to have crashed, others are still running. Frustrating with the long queues. According to the official website, however, all servers are online (via New World).
Update 7:37 PM: To conclude today, we have once again updated our tier list for weapons in PvE and PvP.
Update 7:30 PM: New World has commented again on the queues and promised the release of additional servers. Additionally, players can change servers for free within the next 2 weeks, allowing them to play with their friends:
Update 6:03 PM: 10 hours after release, we draw the following conclusion:
- Especially since the server restart at 10:30 AM, they have been running very stable. Once in the game, players can play without issues and rarely face lags or crashes.
- However, gaining access to the servers continues to be a major issue, as the queues are so long. Players estimate that only 2,000 people can fit on each server. So, if you’re in position 2,000 in the queue, you’ll only be allowed in when 2,000 players leave the server.
- 15 new servers for Europe have been launched, 12 of which are exclusively for German players. Yet, even there, the queues remain lengthy.
- At peak, there were 665,017 players online at the same time (via SteamDB). This puts New World on the brink of becoming the number 1 on Steam.
- When and in what form improvements for the queues will come is currently unknown.
What is your impression of the launch? How much could you play? Let us know in the comments!

Update 5:30 PM: The Twitch drops are now active. You can receive weapon skins from New World by watching on Twitch.
If you watch the German streamer Entenburg, you can win a copy of New World every 30 minutes.
Update 4:47 PM: Australia has also received 4 new servers.
Update 4:45 PM: In the meantime, there’s a new statement from Amazon regarding the queues, but it helps little:
Hello everyone! Thank you all for the amazing support on the first day of #PlayNewWorld! We are aware of the login queues & server issues. The team is working hard to resolve these so everyone can play as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
via New World Forum
Update 4:20 PM: Not only are there long queues for the servers. You now also have to wait in-game for the bosses.
Update 3:50 PM: Amazon has opened 4 new servers, all for German players. Here, the demand seems to be the greatest:
- Corbenic – Vanaheim Core – DE/EN
- Tartarus – Vanaheim Core – DE/EN
- Goldenthal – Vanaheim Core – DE/EN
- Kioram – Vanaheim Core – DE/EN
Update 3:22 PM: At 5:00 PM, the Twitch drops will be activated, and special loot will be unlocked via Prime Gaming. What exactly you’ll get and how to link your accounts can be found here:
New World offers cool weapons through Twitch for a limited time – Here’s how it works
Update 3:15 PM: It’s now relatively certain that the servers of New World are “capped.” This means there can only be a specific number of players on, and only when players leave, will others be allowed on. This explains the hours-long queues that we at MeinMMO also find ourselves in.
Currently, many players are hoping for new servers, as the previous 10 new ones are already overcrowded.
Update 2:25 PM: In addition to new servers in Europe, Australia also received its first 4 new servers just an hour after launch (via New World).
Update 2:16 PM: The rumor persists that streamers are being prioritized in the queue. Community Manager Mugsy states in the forum:
I’m not sure what you mean, but we have no special server or account functions for streamers or anyone else.
Update 2:00 PM: Amazon has opened additional servers, including 5 more for German players:
- Aaru – Vanaheim Chi DE/EN
- Gladsheim – Vanaheim Chi DE/EN
- Pyrandia – Vanaheim Chi DE/EN
- Vaikuntha – Vanaheim Chi DE/EN
- Panchaia – Vanaheim Chi DE/EN
- Charadra – Vanaheim Alto FR/EN
- Jumala – Vanaheim Alto FR/EN
Update 1:20 PM: Not much has changed regarding the situation. The queues remain long and the new servers are already being besieged. According to SteamDB, over 350,000 players were online at 12:20 PM (the numbers have an hour’s delay).
At 2:00 PM, Americans on the East Coast will start with their servers. Let’s see if it goes up again.
Update 1:00 PM: We at MeinMMO are currently all stuck in the queue. That’s why here’s a little something to read:

– Thrudheim Vanaheim Nu DE/EN
– Vimur Vanaheim Nu DE/EN
– Kvenland Vanaheim Lambda ES/ENThe original list has been updated accordingly.

Update 12:05 PM: Just how successful the launch of New World has been is evident on Steam. Excluding America, Brazil, and Australia, the beta record has been broken. Already, over 240,000 players are online, which catapults New World to 3rd place in the Steam charts.
Update 11:38 AM: The rush to New World is huge. We have again addressed the exact situation with the queues here:
New World: Largest rush for a new MMORPG in 2 years – Huge queues
Update 11:20 AM: The login servers seem to be working again. However, you must rejoin the queues…
Update 10:57 AM: At 2:00 PM, the first servers in America will go live. It will be interesting to see if it eases the situation in Europe.
Update 10:54 AM: The login servers are down, so you can no longer join the queue. However, over 18,000 players are supposed to be in a queue on Utgard.
Amazon only says that it will take time to bring some servers online.
Update 10:46 AM: Suddenly, no servers are available anymore. Some players report this, and I myself do not see any servers in the list. Restarting the game did not help.
Update 10:44 AM: The first servers are back up. Some players report that their place was reserved online, and they bypassed the queue. I personally received place 94 after the restart in Ravenal, even though over 2,000 were in the queue. So there seems to be something to that.
Update 10:31 AM: Most servers are now in maintenance, and it seems more have been hit than initially announced.
Update 10:27 AM: Now Ravenal has also been hit, and the server is down.
Update 10:20 AM: At 10:30 AM, all servers except Baltia, Tanje, Amenti, Ravenal, Utgard, Albraca, Hellheim, and Hades will restart. There will be a maintenance of about 15 minutes, says Amazon.
Update 10:18 AM: We took another look at the situation with the names: That’s why you’re guaranteed not to get the name you want in New World.
Update 10:07 AM: Don’t be alarmed if you DC and your character shows level 1. It’s just a display error.
Update 10:05 AM: Currently, the queues on German servers are very long. Servers with little or no queue seem to have crashed and had maintenance. At least for the server Fae, maintenance has been officially confirmed (via New World).
Update 9:55 AM: As time goes on, more issues are occurring. There was a major DC on Ravenal, while the servers remained online. It looks like the place on the server is reserved for a short time, allowing you to join quickly again.
Update 9:45 AM: What’s in the cash shop of New World? We examined that in an article.
Update 9:30 AM: Almost 90 minutes have passed since the release, and it can be summarized as follows:
- Anyone who gets into the game experiences a smooth start. There are no performance issues, and the large numbers of players are well handled.
- However, there are long queues, with tens of thousands of players currently waiting. This has two obvious reasons:
- Firstly, access to the servers is only gradually being increased. Initially, only 1,000 players could fit on each server, now it’s 2,000. It’s suspected this is to prevent a huge influx of players into the starting areas.
- Secondly, players from other regions are trying to reserve their names. The game went live in Europe first, and names are awarded globally.
- There have been crashes and black screens during character creation while in the queue.
- Some servers seem to have crashed or be in maintenance mode intermittently. For Ravendal, we cannot identify such a problem at this time.
Amazon itself has yet to comment on the issues.
Update 9:17 AM: The queues remain a problem, and many players hope that Amazon will deliver new servers. This was promised beforehand if the demand was too high.
Update 8:45 AM: In preparation for New World, many are looking for build guides. We have something for you:
- New World: 3 Builds for Beginners that are ideal for PvE and leveling
- New World: The best builds for tanks
- New World: 3 strong PvP Builds that you should definitely try
Update 8:40 AM: If you want to kill time, you can check out the patch notes for the release of the new MMO. There are some important bug fixes and minor adjustments inside.
Additionally, we put together for you which server your favorite streamer is located on.
Update 8:30 AM: The queues are getting longer, and many fear even longer waits during tonight’s prime time. The German server Utgard already has a queue of over 10,000 players.
So far, there’s been no statement from Amazon regarding the situation.
Update 8:15 AM: Positively, the first boss from the starting area respawns almost instantly after being defeated. This resolves one of the bottlenecks at the launch of New World.
Update 8:10 AM: It seems that some players are just reserving their names and then leaving the queue again. These are likely players outside of Europe, as only our servers are online. However, names are awarded globally.
Update 8:07 AM: Queues of up to 1,000 players – that’s quite a lot.
Update 8:03 AM: After the creation of a character, there are long black screens. However, it continues afterwards; you don’t have to restart. Almost every server already has queues now.
Update 8:01 AM: Ravenal already has over 200 people in the queue.
Update 7:56 AM: The servers are here, and you can play. Initially, some servers were missing, but about a minute later, they were all online.
Update 7:50 AM: The last 10 minutes are about to begin. No servers are live yet.
Update 7:00 AM: Even an hour before launch, everything is still quiet. An early launch, as some players feared, has not happened.
Update 6:40 AM: Good morning and welcome to the live ticker. As of now, the servers are still offline, but during both beta events, it started a bit earlier. Last, the open beta even started two hours early, so from now on, we will keep you updated.
How are you starting in the release of New World? Have you prepared anything special and already set up food and drinks? Feel free to share your setup with us in the comments, and maybe we will share your picture in the ticker!

Which servers are there? New World starts with 63 servers, of which 8 have been designated for German players. Expected queue lengths vary by server.
- Utgard is regarded as the server for many hardcore guilds and streamers. It will likely be very crowded.
- Also, the former server Elysium, which is now called Learad, might become fuller.
- We at MeinMMO will start on Ravenal.
