Data miners are currently very active in New World . They have found numerous new features on the PTR server, including weapons, dungeons, and areas. A new feature found is the dungeon finder. This feature does not exist yet and many view it critically.
What was found in the data mining? On the Aeternum Adventures page, all current info from the data miners on the PTR server has been collected. It includes for example:
- Info about the new area Brimstone Sands
- New weapons
- New dungeons
- A controversial change to the crafting system
The latest find, however, is about a group finder specifically intended for dungeons.
From the shown text snippets, it can already be concluded that one automatically registers for a dungeon and is let in when enough players have been found. Among other things, there are the following phrases:
– Estimated wait time
– You will be removed from the queue if you leave the group. Are you sure?
– Your group is already in the queue for another dungeon
– You are already in the queue for the outpost storm
LFG tools are viewed controversially, said to have killed social interaction in WoW
How is the group finder received? In general, group finders or LFG tools are viewed very controversially in MMO communities. There are many supporters of the “old times” who claim that such tools have killed social interactions.
This means you no longer have to engage with other players and just teleport from dungeon to dungeon instead of looking for a guild and tackling challenges together.
MMO editor Benedict Grothaus also wrote in 2017 that LFG tools have made WoW easier, but less social:
What does the New World community think? In a Reddit thread, the new feature is being actively discussed, with many players being open to the change. User renihskcocffokcuf finds the current system of spamming in chat also not social (via reddit):
I am so tired of people arguing that the group finder destroys social interaction in MMOs. The amount of interaction I have in this game without a group finder is the same as in other games with a group finder.
But instead of just queuing up and doing what I want, I have to spam LFG and constantly scan the chat.
The post received over 250 upvotes and a lot of support in the comments.
However, there are also some negative comments. User theshined writes that LFG tools have ruined every MMORPG they have been implemented in.
