It’s time again for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG news in two minutes.” We summarize the most important news surrounding the best genre in the world. Look forward to a recap of a very eventful week, with exciting announcements, testing phases, and trailers.
The highlights of the week:
- MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiß has already been able to play the two new jobs Viper and Piktomant from Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail – here’s her preview report.
- She also had the opportunity to talk to producer and director Naoki Yoshida at the event: The head of Final Fantasy XIV wants you to see your friends suffer – that’s why he doesn’t let you skip the story.
- Also cool: ArenaNet announced the new expansion for Guild Wars 2 with Janthir Wilds. Look forward to a housing system, the weapon type spear, and the tamable war claw mount.
- A small side note: A veteran of Sims 4 was significantly involved in the new housing of Guild Wars 2.
What else happened? The Tibia developers at CipSoft have announced a new MMORPG for PC after 28 years. Persist Online relies on an old-school sandbox experience with zombies and a dynamic open world.

What happened with the released MMORPGs:
- Amazon Games first announced a new server structure for New World and then dropped the bomb at the Summer Game Fest: The MMORPG will become an action RPG and will receive a console version. Even before the event, there was a leak thanks to Sony that showed New World Aeternum in the PlayStation Store.
- The beta of WoW: The War Within has started.
- In Elder Scrolls Online, the new chapter Gold Road was released on June 3. Accordingly, you can earn a two-seater mount and 100,000 gold in the coming weeks. The size of the game world and scripture system have received some criticism. In contrast, the nostalgic implementation of the Oblivion areas is praised by many players.
- Blizzard has announced two esports events for WoW Cataclysm Classic: an arena tournament and a speedrun competition between two ambitious raid guilds.
- Once again Blizzard and WoW: For Dragonflight Season 4, the developers have quickly revamped the rotation of the awakened raids.
- The updated benchmark for FFXIV: Dawntrail went live on June 3, 2024 (via Lodestone). Additionally, Square Enix announced that on June 11, 2024, the new EU data center Shadow with four new worlds will go live (via Lodestone).
What happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The Early Access of Pax Dei starts on PC on May 18, 2024. Before that, from June 7 to 12, 2024, there will be a preview week in which selected streamers will play Pax Dei.
- The teaser was followed by the official presentation of the new MMORPG from the creators of Lost Ark on June 4, 2024. Lord Nine is being developed for PC and Mobile and aims to provide a theme park of dungeons, raids, world bosses, large PvP battles, a pet system, and more.
- For the MMORPG Havenhold, a new trailer was released before the start of the second playtest. You can expect action-packed battles, puzzles, fights, fortresses, and much more.
- The new gameplay impressions from the “Node War” of Ashes of Creation sparked heated discussions afterwards. The way hit points are processed in PvP battles is not liked by everyone.
- Tarisland will be released on June 21 for PC, Android, and iOS, and the MMORPG community continues to debate whether the game might be good. Recently, the visual progression of the characters was the focus of discussion.
- The second alpha test of Corepunk had to be ended early due to technical issues. Nevertheless, the Early Access phase should start as soon as possible.
- For Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, there was an update with a new dungeon, Acclimation system, and more than 100 class changes (via Youtube).
- The developers of Fractured Online have released a roadmap showing the timeline to the final release in the summer of 2024 and beyond (via fracturedmmo.com)
