The MMORPG New World has officially launched. Now there are complaints again about supposedly broken graphics cards. This time, not just one manufacturer is said to be affected.
With the release of New World, the first problems are also surfacing. At launch, the servers of New World were completely overloaded and many users could not play. A problem that has since become smaller.
Now, some players are complaining that their hardware has been damaged. There were already complaints during the New World Beta that it had broken several graphics cards.
Now there are new discussions about broken or at least very hot graphics cards. Unlike the beta, this time not just EVGA graphics cards are said to be affected.

What are these complaints? The online magazine VideoCardz.com reported on Twitter about several user emails complaining that their graphics card no longer works after playing New World. However, VideoCardz does not name the affected graphics cards or the number.
The German magazine Winfuture also explains that it itself has been affected by the problems (via winfuture.de). Winfuture states, “Despite various safety mechanisms, both in New World and in the graphics card driver, the problem remains the same.”
Despite a frame limiter in the main menu, the graphics card is said to continue to become very hot in the main menu. Winfuture explains that it has also installed the current Nvidia software. PCGamer also reports that the graphics card reaches almost 100% utilization while playing New World (via PCGamer.com). Especially when you want to play with all details.
There are also users on reddit who complain about a broken graphics card. One player, who complains about his broken RTX 3080 Ti, did not have an FPS limit activated (via reddit.com).
What problems have there been so far? During the New World Beta, there were already problems with broken graphics cards. The most important and best tip is to limit the FPS in the game or through the graphics card software. Especially if you have very powerful hardware, you should use the limiter in the game.
Otherwise, you should regularly check the temperature of your graphics card with a free program like Hardware Monitor. According to various reports, the roaring graphics card fans are hard to ignore.
