Mounts have been and still are a major topic in New World. However, there will be no mounts for the time being. Instead, the developers have now brought a change to the PTR that the players themselves suggested. In the future, you will run faster on roads.
What exactly is changing? If you are currently exploring the test server in New World, you may notice an interesting change. On the official paths in the game, you will receive a speed boost.
This means you will run 10% faster while sprinting on roads. This should make it easier to quickly reach your desired destination in some places.
Why is this change so interesting? As early as October, players expressed some ideas on how New World could make exhausting and often very long travels easier.
One very popular suggestion was to allow players to run faster on roads. Over 2,800 players have given a thumbs up to the thread on reddit. Another suggestion was to increase travel speed when sheathing your weapon.
What other travel options do you have? Essentially, you can always teleport from a settlement or fast travel point to another location of this type. However, this costs Azoth, and some people generally have too little of this currency.
Additionally, there is the option to return to an inn every 60 minutes and the ability to teleport to your own houses.
Last but not least, dying in areas is very popular to then be resurrected at the appropriate settlement. This is a bit morbid, but it works well.

What is the status of mounts in New World? Just recently, Katy Kaszynski, the Senior Producer of New World, commented on fan desires such as mounts or full loot in PvP.
