In New World crafting is of great importance. The plants from gathering play a big role because they are needed for the creation of light equipment, magical weapons, and potions. We at MeinMMO will show you in this guide how you can quickly level up your gathering skill.
What types of stones and ores exist in New World? Those who engage in mining will encounter a variety of collectible materials:
- Mushrooms – Collectible from level 0
- Agricultural plants such as herbs, pumpkins, corn, and others – Collectible from level 0, detectable from level 20
- Hemp – Collectible from level 0, detectable from level 25
- Magical creatures – Collectible from level 0, detectable at level 175
- Magical plants – Collectible from level 30, detectable from level 45

Using the right tools to level up faster
Are the tools that important? Yes, they really are. The higher the quality of your tools, the faster you can gather plants. This also affects the faster leveling of gathering. Try, whenever possible, to craft or buy better tools.

Which gathering sickles are the best? In this overview, you will find the individual gathering sickles with their values and when you can unlock them with your character level. We also list the recommended passive advantages.
- Gathering Sickle – Iron
- Usable from character level 5 – 1 passive possible.
- ‘Gathering Discipline’ – More experience for gathering.
- Gathering Sickle – Steel
- Usable from character level 17 – 2 passives possible.

Leveling gathering quickly – Here’s how
Level 1 to 100: At this level, it is most beneficial to gather herbs, hemp, and blueberries. These three resources give the most XP for a relatively short gathering process. The magical plants yield less XP, take longer to gather, and are also rarer to find.
The largest and most lucrative gathering of hemp can be found in Windsward between the Fort and the port point for the main quest:
However, since this spot is hopelessly overcrowded, we would also like to present an alternative. Around First Light, you can find many herbs and a little hemp.
The cool thing here is: you are near a town and can constantly empty your inventory. At the edge of the upper mountains, there are also some iron and silver veins, in case you want to level mining as well.
On the other hand, players with a high level who still need to level gathering will find a huge field of herbs in Ebonscale:
Level 100 to 175: In fact, the route in Windsward remains the best alternative even at higher levels to progress. There, you still gain experience the fastest in the shortest amount of time.
Although silk plants are added, and there are some spots with a collection of these plants, if there are no alternative spots nearby, you will have to wait for the respawn.
If you still want to gather the higher material and simply have an alternative, you will find it in Everfall:
Level 175 to 200: For players with a low level wanting to bring gathering to level 200, they can still farm in Windsward or Everfall.
High-level characters get a good alternative in Edenhain. There, a lot of wirefiber grows in one spot.
Other advantages that make leveling easier
Extra intelligence provides bonuses: The more points you invest in intelligence in the attributes window, the more advantages you receive while gathering:
- 50 points or more = +10% faster gathering
- 100 points or more = 5% chance to find Azoth while gathering
- 150 points or more = 10% less weight from gathered items
- 200 points or more = +10% faster gathering
- 250 points or more = +10% more yield while gathering
Area reputation also plays a role. With the area reputation “Gathering” map, you can gather plants even faster, and that means gaining experience quicker. If you mainly gather plants in an area, you can rely on this buff.
