The MMO New World by Amazon has postponed the start of the beta and the release for now. However, the closed alpha continues. We will tell you how you can currently get an alpha key for the tests.
What is the current status of New World? Actually, the beta for New World was supposed to start in April and the MMO was finally supposed to leave the closed testing phase. However, due to the coronavirus, the start of the beta has been postponed to July and the release has been postponed to August 2020.
If you want to take a look at the content of New World right now, you will need access to the alpha. Because the game’s test is still under NDA and Amazon shows only sporadic gameplay of the game.
However, joining the alpha is still possible. While you do need some luck, you now have several options to get into the closed tests.

Weekly Giveaways and Official Invitations
How do you get an alpha key? Currently, there are two ways to get into the alpha of New World, but in both cases, you are reliant on luck:
- On the one hand, you can sign up on the official website. You only need an Amazon account for this.
- On the other hand, giveaways are held regularly via social media.
The invitations through the official website take place in waves once a week.
Every Wednesday, a giveaway starts on Twitter, which runs until Friday and rewards 10 lucky players with an alpha key.
Make sure that you participate in the German or French Twitter account. The two are giving away keys for EU, while those from the English account can only be used in North America.
Do pre-order customers get guaranteed access? Pre-order customers do get guaranteed access to the beta in July, but not to the alpha.
However, they automatically enter the pool for the giveaways through the official website.
