To be an effective healer in the new MMORPG New World, you need a very specific weapon. Since there are no classes in the game, your weapon determines what you can and cannot do. Additionally, you must level up your weapon to unlock skills with it. So you might be wondering: How do I craft a Life Staff in New World?
What is the Life Staff? The Life Staff is one of three magical weapons in New World. Unlike the Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet, the Life Staff is the only one that fully focuses on support and scales with the Focus attribute.
The Life Staff gives you the option to choose between healing and protection, thereby supporting yourself and your allies. Especially for beginners, we recommend focusing on Sword and Life Staff.
How do you craft the Life Staff? To craft such a staff, you need to find a settlement of level 2. It is necessary for the Arcana Archive of the settlement, identifiable by the circle symbol on the map, to also be at level 2. This is required to craft magical weapons.
After that, you just need to interact with the Arcana Archive and can craft a Life Staff if you have the appropriate materials. If the staff does not appear in your selection list, the necessary level 2 of the archive has not been reached.
To craft a Life Staff made of iron for beginners, you need the following raw materials:
- 12 iron bars (obtained by smelting iron ore in the smelter)
- 5 raw leather (obtained by tanning leather at the tannery)
- 6 life particles (obtained by harvesting life blooms)
How do I get life particles? Especially the life particles can pose a challenge at the beginning. To harvest them, you need the Life skill Harvesting at level 30. You can level this up by harvesting plants of all kinds.
Once you reach level 30, the MMORPG allows you to gather magical plants. Focus on the large and white glowing ones; these are the life blooms that provide you with the necessary raw materials for the Life Staff.
The Life Staff is also exciting for solo players
Why is the Life Staff good for beginners? Especially in the early game, the Life Staff is optimal for you, as it makes fighting much easier. You can heal yourself, boost yourself, and deal a bit of damage from a distance before the enemy reaches you.
When the enemy gets to you, you can use the ability “Holy Ground”. This creates a field in front of you that triggers life drain for all who stand in the field. Therefore, if you switch to your secondary weapon and hit, you heal yourself even if you no longer have the staff in hand.
Additionally, with healing and life drain, you can save a lot of food and healing potions.
Which skills should you use? You should invest your first skill points in the protector tree of the Life Staff and unlock the skills “Protection Sphere” and “Beacon”. Around weapon level 6, you can then get the last skill in the healing tree, which is “Holy Ground”.
If you often play solo, you don’t need to unlock the last skills of the trees, as they focus on supporting your group. You can therefore concentrate more on the passive improvements of your existing skills, making you quite strong relatively early.
Among other things, you can learn “Touch of the Protector” to take less damage when attacking or use “Balance” to run away faster when you fall below 50% health. The Life Staff makes your life in New World considerably easier, especially at the beginning.
