The MMO New World offers not only medieval weapons; you even fight with muskets. The developers now introduce you to the strongest variants, explain where to find them, and what they can do.
What kind of muskets are they? With the muskets, you perform ranged attacks. You can craft or find regular rifles yourself. However, there are also special models. These have now been introduced by the developers. They are the variants “Light in the Dark”, “Brightwood Sharpshooter”, and “Orichalum Musket”.

Light in the Dark
- How do you get the weapon? There is a rare chance that you will receive it as loot from enemies below level 20.
- What does the musket do? With the Ignited Perk 2, it is particularly effective in PvP and during conquests against heavy armor with low elemental resistance.
Brightwood Sharpshooter
- How do you get the weapon? In the Brightwood settlement, you can expect a series of particularly challenging PvE quests. If you complete these, you will receive the musket as a reward.
- What does the musket do? It is a versatile PvE weapon that deals bonus damage against the Corrupted and Lost families.
Orichalum Musket
- How do you get the weapon? As a Master Engineer, you can craft this special weapon in crafting.
- What does the musket do? It is among the best in the game and deals the highest possible base damage. Additionally, it has a slot for a gemstone and three strength perks.

This is what players think about these special weapons from New World: On one hand, there is some criticism because the design of the muskets is not very interesting. They just look like typical muskets. Furthermore, the individual models visually differ very little from each other.
