Today is the release day of the new MMO New World. The queues to get onto the servers are huge. But now, even in the game itself, queues are forming to kill certain NPCs.
What is happening in New World? Since the early morning hours of September 28th players have been crowding onto the servers of New World. However, the influx is so huge that there are hours-long queues as a result. According to SteamDB, there are currently over 500,000 players online at the same time.
The players who successfully join a server and start playing are now facing other problems. Because there is so much happening in the game that you literally have to stand in line to complete quests.
This is how players wait in New World
This shows players: On reddit, TRNogger shares a screenshot from New World and titles the image “This is so German”. The image shows two overlapping screenshots depicting player queues.
The user writes that the corrupted cleric was overrun by players wanting to take him down. But it didn’t quite work out, and thus a queue formed, so that each could take down the boss one after the other. It looks really good in the game:
Characters in the game line up to complete quests, such as defeating the corrupted cleric. This task is part of the quest line “Not so good,” which is part of the main story of the game. Every player has to go there sooner or later to progress in the story.
So it’s clear that the spawn of the corrupted cleric is heavily contested. To untangle the chaos a bit, some players agree to the queues.
This is what players say: Some write that it would be “more German” if they had pushed forward in the queue. Others are reminded of the launch of WoW Classic. Because even at the new, old servers of WoW, players struggled with queues outside and in the game.
In the coming hours and days, there will likely continue to be such situations in New World. The influx remains high, and many new players are eager to finally begin their adventure in Aeternum.
