On September 28, New World finally celebrated its release on Steam after several delays. Now we wanted to know from you at MeinMMO what you think about the new MMO. Many of you currently have a positive view of New World.
What kind of survey was that? On October 15, we asked you how you find New World nearly two weeks after the release. A total of 2,251 people participated in the survey. Here are the results:
- 744 (33.05%) of you find New World good
- 720 (31.99%) find New World even very good
- 145 (6.44%) find New World not that good
- 98 (4.35%) find New World, on the other hand, bad
- Moreover, 255 (11.33%) of the participants have not played New World at all so far
This means that a considerable part of our readers is satisfied with the new MMO. However, many of you have expressed concerns about the endgame and the future of New World in the comments. The situation with the servers has also led to some depreciation.
Praise for Atmosphere and Crafting
What do our readers praise about New World? In almost all comments under the survey, the atmosphere and crafting in New World are praised. For instance, our reader Nyxaro writes:
I am now at about 150 hours and level 54. I have enjoyed the game a lot so far. I can also drift off into resource gathering and/or crafting for an hour when I no longer feel like questing, and I even earn good XP while doing so. The instances have been really fun so far, as mistakes can sometimes lead to an immediate oneshot. Even tanking has been a lot of fun in this MMO. It’s nice to have to do a little more in an MMO than just spam 1234.
Max Mustermann is also excited about crafting:
[I like New World] very much! Fantastic crafting, whatever you gather, it will be needed for something. The best items are crafted by yourself in the endgame, and that makes the grind a positive obligation.

Some players are not warming up to New World at all
What do the players who rated New World poorly say? While the positive voices primarily praise the crafting and atmosphere of the MMO, some readers on MeinMMO are not warming up to the game at all.
They have issues with the quests or the combat system. Ryngha, for instance, does not understand the hype around New World at all:
I must unfortunately say that NW does not appeal to me at all. Aside from the lousy communication from Amazon and the queue times at the beginning: super boring, uninspired quests, crafting is okay, but also dull in the long run. The combat system is also okay, but nothing more.
The hype train threw me out of the back wagon shortly after the launch. Surely no one can seriously be captivated like in WoW, ESO, or FFXIV?
This opinion is not alone, but even in the comments, our readers have pointed out that tastes are indeed very different.
Swimming as a Meme of New World
A topic in our comments was also swimming. Many of you wonder why there are no swimming animations in the game and characters instead walk underwater.
Tronic48, for instance, is actually fully convinced by New World but mentions swimming as one of the criticisms: “You still can’t swim, which is totally ridiculous.” The topic of swimming was then taken as a joke in further comments.

Concerns about Endgame, Trade Prices, and the Future of the Game
Where do our readers have concerns? Many of you shared your concerns about the future of New World in the over 100 comments. One of them relates to the endgame.
Our reader Alex, for example, hopes that Amazon brings new content quickly enough:
However, there are currently too few regular alternatives [in PvP]. The Outpost Rush mode is the only one, and it will surely get boring at some point. I hope that Amazon quickly adds a few more PvP modes, and also a few more endgame expeditions.
Threepwood is also skeptical about the endgame. This is partly due to the bugs in higher areas, and partly because many players will soon gather in a few areas:
The level 60 players are rightly upset because so many bugs exist, and they have to gather in a few small areas to make progress. When the “mass” of players arrives there, it will get really cramped on the map.
Also pointing to the endgame is the issue of trade prices. Several of our readers fear that the prices for goods could soon drop significantly. MeisterSchildkröte writes:
The so-called player-driven economy is unfortunately more appearance than reality. Players’ storage is overflowing, only a few goods sell really well on the market. Because equipment drops from every corner, every mob, and every chest, crafting professions have largely become irrelevant again. It can’t be the point of crafting to level up to 200 just to be able to craft 5 essential items.
The nonexistent mechanic of destroying loot and thereby removing it from the game also leads to total inflation.
