The player Larsen has published a video about New World where he explains how he managed to reach level 60 so quickly. He especially focuses on the city projects and the associated task board. This is often ignored by many, but it is a very useful feature for leveling.
Who is Larsen? Larsen is the first player to reach level 60 after the release of New World. According to his own statement, it took him 59 hours, and he reached the max level on the night of October 1.
He streamed his entire leveling adventure on Twitch and is now starting to upload videos about New World on YouTube.
How did Larsen reach level 60 so quickly? According to his own statement, the player mainly focused on crafting and city projects. While they are not very strong at lower levels, they become more important later on and are therefore often underestimated by players.
Rotating through 3 cities to progress as quickly as possible
How exactly did Larsen proceed? Larsen leveled up relatively normally until level 20 and followed the story and side quests.
In addition, he also leveled up various crafting skills. This was an important part of his leveling strategy:
- On one hand, crafting skills provide a lot of experience.
- On the other hand, the tasks on the city board improve as your skill increases. Important milestones are levels 50, 75, and 100 of each discipline.

To complete the city tasks as effectively as possible, he created a triangle of 3 major cities: Windkreis, Immerfall, and Königsfels:
- His journey started in Windkreis, where he accepted quests. Then he headed north to Immerfall. Along the way, there are rabbits, wolves, and turkeys, all of which are important for the quests.
- In Immerfall, he accepted quests again and walked towards Königsfels. There is a lot of iron along the way.
- From Königsfels, he either teleported back to Windkreis or walked. Along the way, one can find easily hemp and leather.
Upon reaching Immerfall, he completed all crafting tasks. He did this because the city belonged to his faction, and the taxes there were correspondingly lower. You should also pay attention to this if you want to follow this method.
Through the explorer missions, he quickly earned a lot of money to buy a house, which made his journey through the cities easier and cheaper.
He did this for about the first 1.5 to 2 days. After that, he bought a second house in Lichtholz and included this city in his rotation as well.
Which quests are particularly good?
- Tasks for the armor smith
- Tasks for the weaponsmith
- Travel provisions
- T1 and T2 food quests
- Kill wolves, bison, rabbits, etc. – you can later also obtain meat for the other tasks from them
- All quests for gathering and improving resources, except wood
Which quests are rather bad?
- Quests for gathering and processing wood
