New World is getting a major update in March titled “Heart of Madness”. This has now been announced. It includes new story and endgame content. We at MeinMMO reveal what will happen in March.
What’s included in the March update for New World? The focus is mainly on three major innovations:
- A new dungeon called “Heart of the Tempest” will be released, which picks up the main story surrounding Isabella.
- The new weapon, the Thunder Gun, is coming to the game.
- New enemies are expected to appear in the old areas.
Additionally, the March update is expected to include some balance changes and bug fixes.
When will the patch be released? There is no exact date yet. Typically, updates are released two to three weeks after the start on the PTR, which means towards the end of the month.
Just on February 28, the last major update in New World was released, fixing over 100 bugs and making the combat system smoother.
New dungeon concludes the current story
What exactly is this dungeon? The Tempest’s Heart is the “twisted capital” of Myrkgard and, accordingly, the dungeon will be located in Bruchberg. Inside, you will face Isabella, whom you must defeat in the final battle.
The dungeon is designed for 5 players at level 60. The developers recommend an item level of at least 550.

Thunder Gun focuses on medium range and AoE damage
What is this new weapon? The Thunder Gun is a firearm that you fire with one hand, dealing damage primarily in close range and at medium distance. It scales with strength and intelligence, allowing it to be used by both melee fighters and mages.
As usual, there are two talent trees:
- The “Containment” tree revolves around getting up close to enemies and blasting them with hot lead to the face.
- “Chaos,” on the other hand, focuses on distance and large AoE explosions.
Along with the Thunder Gun, a new legendary weapon is also coming, which you can earn through a quest in Balance.
What else does the update bring? According to the latest blog post, there will be new enemies in the already existing areas, similar to Patch 1.1, which introduced the Varangian Knights.
Additionally, new bug fixes and balance adjustments are planned. More precise details are expected with the start of the PTR.
March will generally be an interesting month for New World. Because in the coming days, a large roadmap for the future will be presented. Many players are eagerly waiting to finally find out what content will be coming this year.
