Today, on July 25, 2024, the closed beta for the new Aeternum version of New World starts, which aims to bring the MMORPG to consoles in October. Unfortunately, not all interested parties with an invitation code are allowed to participate in the testing phase, which causes frustration.
What is the problem with the beta codes? In the wake of the announcement of the closed beta of New World Aeternum, the word spread that interested parties from North America and Europe can participate in the testing phase if they receive a corresponding code for PlayStation or Xbox.
The codes come not only from Amazon Games itself but also from various English-speaking gaming websites that were allowed to distribute some beta accesses among their communities. The responsible parties from New World apparently also explained to these websites that participants must come from the US or EU regions.
Further restrictions were reportedly not mentioned. Accordingly, some lucky participants were surprised that they could not redeem their beta code on PlayStation. The reason for this is now circulating on reddit: On the PlayStation, the codes for the closed console beta are region-specific and can only be redeemed in 20 (out of more than 45) EU countries.

Which EU countries are supported? Interested parties from the following countries may redeem their code for the closed beta on PlayStation: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
New details about the closed beta of New World Aeternum
The responsible parties from New World have now published a roadmap for the test. Participants can look forward to two phases:

Additionally, there will be a set event program to allow as many interested parties as possible to participate in battles for, for example, outposts.

What else do I need to know about the closed beta? Participants do not need an active online subscription (Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus) to be allowed to participate in the beta. Additionally, only some content from New World Aeternum will be available for testing.
Not included are:
- the first 4 pre-rendered cinematics
- PvP wars
- the “Gorgon’s Lair” raid
