A forum post from the developers of New World explained on the evening of November 1 that all forms of wealth transfer would be temporarily disabled. We from MeinMMO explain why this is the case and what exactly is affected.
What happened in New World? In the ongoing fight against the possibilities of duplicating gold in the MMORPG, i.e., artificially doubling it by exploiting game glitches, Amazon has taken a new step.
In the past, the New World developers responded by shutting down certain game systems. The server transfer was very quickly disabled again after a gold duplication problem was discovered during that process.
A server transfer is, however, far less relevant than the systems that had to be shut down this time. To finally get a handle on the problem and remove gold duplication from New World once and for all, Amazon has now decided to temporarily disable all forms of wealth transfer (via newworld.com).
Which systems are affected? Currently, all systems in New World that could allow players to transfer money or wealth to each other are shut down. These include the following:
- The “send wealth” function directly through the inventory
- Guild banks
- Direct player trading
- The trading post
These mechanics are to remain disabled until the developers find the cause of the game glitch.
What is Amazon doing now? Currently, the developers are looking for a long-term solution to address the gold duplication problem. Additionally, Amazon announced sanctions against all players who exploited this game glitch to illegally gain access to more gold.
It is unclear to what extent this threat will ultimately apply. Various methods for duplicating gold have been detailed over a long time in the forums. It can be assumed that many players have already exploited this glitch.
Details on what these sanctions will look like are currently not further defined. The developers do not specifically mention a ban in the forum. However, those who may have exploited the bug too much could expect account suspension (via reddit).
Trading post closed until further notice
Why is this so bad? The possibilities to duplicate gold can simply be ignored by an average player. However, the inability to send wealth and to trade directly is frustrating for some players.
But the complete closure of the trading post should be the worst consequence. Because it affects all players without exception and it prevents even honest players from earning any gold at the moment.
This is particularly bad if someone already owns three houses and has to pay taxes for all of them. The economy of New World has already faced criticism because players simply do not have enough gold to cover their ongoing costs.
This problem is now likely to worsen further. Many players at level 60 are therefore literally broke, and the wealthiest are those who do not own any houses and do not buy items.
How is the community reacting? Players are now very frustrated with the errors in the game. The shutdown of these systems forms the tip of the iceberg, and fans are slowly reaching their limit (via reddit).

- NilfGotSBIed writes: “This is the end. They can never track all the items bought and sold with duplicated gold. On my server, hundreds of level 600 armors were for sale for under 1000 gold. It just got out of hand.”
- EEESpumpkin is frustrated and says, “So if I can’t earn money, how am I supposed to make gold to cover all my costs? How am I supposed to repair? Respec? Transfer storage and pay taxes? This is nonsense.”
