The release of New World has been postponed. The announcement came just a few weeks before the planned release. Still, hardly any player is really angry about it; most show understanding or are even glad about it.
When is the release of New World? Amazon announced that New World will not be released until September 28, 2021. This is now the fifth postponement of the release of the new MMO.
The developers state that the reason is that many bugs and issues were reported in the recently concluded closed beta, which they now want to fix. However, they need time for that. Amazon is currently working on:
- Bug fixes
- Improving server stability
- Polish

This is how players are reacting: Some players are outraged that the game is being postponed once again (via Twitter.com). They had taken vacation time or found no bugs after dozens of hours in beta, demanding that New World be released sooner. Others react more calmly with funny memes that still reveal a bit of annoyance:
However, these players are in the minority. The general sentiment in the community is that they welcome the postponement, hoping for a better gaming experience as a result.
“Better a good game than a half-baked one”
Why do players find a postponement okay? Although the beta was extremely successful and New World drove to the top of Steam at times, many players found bugs and issues nonetheless.
On reddit, there are many smaller threads where players say: in the long run, the postponement is good. In the big thread about the postponement, user Superlux_ states: “As much as I was ready to play on August 31, I’m glad to see they care about quality. Other studios would probably have released it and fixed issues later” (via reddit.com).
Similar reactions can also be found on Twitter and in the German sphere. Streamer Cirouss, for instance, who showed less of New World because he wanted to save the fun for “later,” says: “I can’t say I’m not sad and now have to replan everything. But better a good game than a half-baked one. Just promise me it won’t be postponed again” (via Twitter.com).
“This ‘release first, fix later’ mentality drives me crazy”
This is what the MeinMMO community says: Among our readers, a similar picture emerges. Many believe that a later but good game is far better than one that is released too early and with errors:

However, there is also criticism of the postponement, especially about the length. Apparently, some of our readers see more problems with New World than could be solved in a month: “In a month you can polish, but nothing fundamentally wrong can be fixed or changed. I don’t know if New World has a long future as it is or if it will be among the MMOs that are shut down after a few years.” – McPhil on MeinMMO
Furthermore, at least some of you seem to be looking forward to the upcoming MMORPG Lost Ark even more than to New World and hope for a quick release there,
Will there be another beta? Almost as often as the postponement is welcomed, players are simultaneously calling for another beta, preferably an open one. They believe that many more bugs could be found and a smooth launch could be ensured.
