On October 6th, New World will receive its first major update since release. Patch 1.0.1 primarily focuses on the AFK timer, the queue, and numerous bug fixes. We at MeinMMO summarize the patch notes for you.
What changes with the AFK timer? Due to high queue times, many players have been cheating to stay in the game even when they have to be AFK for a long time. According to the new patch, this should no longer be so easy:
- An additional AFK prevention has been added to ensure that players cannot trick the existing system using simulated mouse movements.
- The first AFK warning now appears after 15 instead of 20 minutes.
- The kick for players who are AFK now occurs after 20 minutes. Previously, players were only kicked after 25 minutes.
What major innovations does the patch bring? The new update 1.0.1 brings some new features, but no new content. The most important adjustments are:
- A confirmation has been added when you leave the queue. This should prevent you from accidentally leaving the queue.
- The projectiles from turret guns in war have been modified to improve performance stability.
- In the shop, you will see initial options for the upcoming free character transfer.
- The annoying bug related to the interaction key “E” has been fixed.
- A bug that allowed players to loot the same container with items in it endlessly has been fixed.
In addition to these changes, there were 30 other bug fixes. We have attached the complete patch notes below.
When will patch 1.0.1 be released? The new update is scheduled to go live today, October 6th at 12:00 PM German time.
The update comes with a long maintenance period. According to Community Manager Tosch, this is expected to take about 240 minutes, or 4 hours. The servers will not come back online until about 4:00 PM.
The complete patch notes for patch 1.0.1
General
We have implemented the foundation for character server transfers and you can see elements of this work in the in-game shop. We are continuing to work on this feature and will release more information about how the system works as we release server transfers throughout the week.
War
Projectiles from turret guns in war, which were previously physical projectiles, have been modified to use hitscan detection instead. This should improve performance during wars as fewer objects will be spawned in the world.
AFK Prevention
To ensure that players cannot remain AFK (especially on heavily populated servers), we have made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system.
- An additional AFK prevention has been added to ensure that players cannot trick the existing system using simulated mouse movements.
- The time until the AFK warning message has been shortened from 20 to 15 minutes.
- The disconnection from the server due to AFK has been shortened from 25 to 20 minutes.
Queue
We have added a confirmation screen that will be displayed when a player attempts to leave the queue for a world. The player will then be asked to confirm that they really want to leave the queue. This should ensure that no one accidentally leaves the queue and loses their place.
