In the endgame of New World, everything revolves around creating the perfect gear. This also involves crafting the powerful artifacts. These bring with them special effects that influence your playstyle. In this guide, we at MeinMMO reveal everything important about it.
How do artifacts work? Basically, you can create three artifacts:
- A weapon
- Armor – where the shield counts as armor
- An accessory
Artifacts always have a defense value of 700 and offer special effects that do not exist elsewhere in the game. They possess six perks, thus more than the usual legendary items. The first effect is Magnify, which always strengthens the attribute (strength, dexterity, intelligence, etc.) you have skilled the highest.
Then follow one or two special effects, before it continues with the two usual perks. Finally, there is a random perk, such as +7 percent critical damage, more damage from light attacks, etc.
To give you an idea of the artifacts, we have embedded two screenshots for you – one of a weapon and one of armor:
Can I reforge perks? Yes, specifically the fifth perk. This is a classic bonus that you already have on your weapons, such as bleeding on critical hits or similar.
To reforge, you need:
- 1x Weapon Matrix
- 250x Dark Matter
- 5x Gypsum Ball
- 1x The desired perk material
How do you get the artifacts? These powerful equipment items cannot be simply crafted; instead, you must find them, such as in dungeons, in the open world, or through PvP. Where exactly, we will tell you for each item here in the guide.
However, you do not receive the finished item there; instead, you must complete a series of tasks to unlock each individual perk. This includes defeating certain types of enemies. You can see the tasks directly in the interface when you have equipped the artifact.

Finding the artifact weapons
Where do you get the artifact weapons? You get most of the weapons from bosses in areas like Elysian Wilds. However, some hide in dungeons or the PvP reward path. We summarize everything for you about the weapons.
Notes: Some weapons only have a unique effect, but still have six perks.

What else is happening with New World? Amazon is hitting the reset button. New World will become an action RPG in October 2024, also coming to PS5 and Xbox. The update will primarily adjust and improve the gameplay and user interface for consoles. The combat system will be made significantly more action-oriented and adjusted for controller control.
Additionally, a variety of new content is planned that will also benefit PC players. The first 10-player raid, for example, an extensive PvP zone, or solo trials.
