Once again, player trading had to be disabled in New World. The culprit is an annoying bug that has sneaked back into the game. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What happened in New World? The MMORPG from Amazon is plagued by one bug after another. Just the day before yesterday, server transfers were reopened for players after being disabled for a week due to a bug.
Right after that, another issue returned to the game. Once again, there was presumably a bug in the game that allowed players to create or clone gold out of nothing. After a few hours, it turned out that it wasn’t a gold dupe but just a display error.
New World initially decided to put player trading back on hold and not allow you to trade with other users until the cause of the alleged gold duping was clear.
What is a gold dupe? It seemed that a gold dupe was once again possible in New World. That was the reason why player trading was disabled. However, it turned out to be just a display error, which is why Amazon gave the all-clear after just a few hours.
In a real gold dupe, gold is indeed created out of nothing. Usually, a bug in the game causes such problems. For example, during the release of server transfers in New World, it was possible to send gold to other players without it being deducted from your account.
This results in gold being created out of nothing. This process is then called a gold dupe.
How long was player trading disabled? This is not the first time that this system has had to be shut down due to gold dupes or other bugs. Usually, the bug is fixed within a few days, and players can trade normally again.
Amazon responded even faster this time and reactivated player trading after just a few hours. In the forum, they state that the suspected gold dupe was only a display error and that player trading is therefore reactivated.
They plan to address the display error in one of the upcoming updates. However, there is no threat to the economy and therefore no reason to keep player trading disabled.
The community shakes their heads with a smile
How do the fans react? New World players and the community around the game have become accustomed to bugs like this. So there are hardly any major outcries or people who are seriously angry or shocked due to such bugs and measures.
Instead, a sarcastic undertone flows through the voices of the community. As if people can only smile and shake their heads when New World makes such a mistake again.
Many comments are therefore more humorous and cynical in nature. At least this bug didn’t cause any significant damage.

- More positively, TaylorDestiny222 says: “I don’t want to say that the bugs aren’t bad. But the fact that the whole thing was resolved in about 4 hours shows that the developers are really trying their best.”
- Very sarcastically, TheApocalypticOne replies to the news that trading is working again: “Oh man! Now I uninstalled the game!”
