In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the in-house Battle Royale Warzone, a new LMG is on the menu in Season 3, and for the first time, there is solid material available.
This is about the leak: Recently, the well-known leaker TheGamingRevolution on YouTube made headlines with a video. He shared a lot of info about unreleased content from CoD MW and Warzone. Included was also a first look at a new weapon that is expected to be added to the game soon as part of Season 3.
Even though the dataminer enjoys a good reputation in the community, we ask you to take the information with caution as they are not official.
Update April 29 – 10:00 AM: The new patch is live and the LMG is in the game as “Bruen Mk9”. Here are the patch notes for update 1.20.
Leak shows a new LMG for Call of Duty
This weapon was found: According to the leaker, soldiers will soon have fun with a new LMG. In his video, the weapon can be seen without a final coat but fully modeled:
According to the file names, the weapon is designated LM_MKIL03, but it strongly resembles a classic from the “Call of Duty” history: M249 SAW.
In earlier series installments like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered, the M249 SAW impressed with a very high rate of fire. The designation SAW does not stand for saw as often assumed, but is an acronym for “Squad Automatic Weapon”.
The light machine gun would thus join a pistol and a DMR that have been freely playable for all players since the start of the current season.
When might the weapon arrive? According to the leaker, the LMG could find its way into the game as early as tomorrow, April 28th. Because then, the new, rather large update for Modern Warfare and Warzone is due.
Developer Infinity Ward has officially announced that a new LMG will be featured in Season 3. If you take a look at the S3 roadmap, the corresponding weapon is marked “classified”:
What else is in the massive update? Whether the new weapon actually launches on April 28th is still uncertain. But these contents are definitely included in the new update:
- Master Camo for favorite weapons
- Frankenstein / Frankensmithing for blueprints
- Shoot the Ship with “Boosted” and “Grind”
- Gas changes in Warzone
