In Destiny 2 many are currently hunting the new event exotic. Players are now fearing the deactivation, as a glitch allows for infinite shots.
This is the weapon players are currently chasing: In Destiny, a competition event is ongoing where players can earn a new exotic: Heir Apparent. As our test on MeinMMO shows, the auto rifle has massive firepower.
The exotic is likely one of the most attractive incentives for many players to participate in competitions. However, the power weapon will not be easily given to the Guardians during the Guardian Games, but requires a lot of work.
Currently, the event is in round 2 of 3 and more and more diligent competitors are finally able to hold the exotic in their hands. However, while testing, a glitch has now been found – and it causes the Guardians to worry about their exotic.
Does the new exotic not consume ammunition?
This is the glitch in question: The reddit user TheRedMentalist used Heir Apparent and tested the characteristics of the exotic auto rifle at the shooting range in the Tribute Hall. He found that the weapon can fire without consuming ammunition.
Like a Gatling gun, the new weapon needs to spool up briefly and then fires thunderously from its four barrels. But only after:
- spooling up briefly, not firing
- taking a short pause
- spooling up again
Heir Apparent fires shots that come out of nowhere. The projectiles are not consumed from the magazine or reserve. The glitch is possible as long as there is at least 1 shot left in the magazine.
Does this also work in PvP? Initially, the discoverer assumed that the unique shield mechanic was responsible for the damage and that the phenomenon would only be possible in PvE.
But to his great surprise, it also works in PvP. Here, “the victim” can also see that the rounds are leaving the barrel of the auto rifle. However, the user of the exotic cannot see them. Check out the whole thing from both perspectives.

Is there a risk of deactivating the exotic? Upon closer inspection, the glitch is not gamebreaking or overly powerful. The DPS value of this “mechanic” is not very high, especially in PvE, where the exotic shines primarily due to its sustained fire.
In PvP, power ammo is quite rare, and the glitch cannot be exploited without at least one shot remaining. Nevertheless, Bungie has been quick and strict in addressing unfair advantages lately, especially concerning the Crucible:

This resonates with many Guardians. Because the powerful exotic is one of the strongest incentives for many to earn medals daily.
