In Devstream 104, the developers discussed Warframe (PC, PS4, Xbox) and the new frame Khora. The release of the cat lady was supposed to coincide with a rework of the damage types. This seems to be more difficult than expected, which is why Khora is already receiving a rework. You can find out what else was shown in the stream here.
In the last Devstream 104 of Warframe things got really intense! The developers’ live stream had to be abruptly ended due to a fire alarm. The staff was required to evacuate the studio and went outside. The stream was cut short, and therefore there is still some information missing that Digital Extremes would have liked to provide.
Nevertheless, there was time to introduce a few exciting developments in Warframe:
- The new Warframe Khora receives a rework before her release
- The Prime Vault opens up, allowing three Prime frames to be farmed for a limited time
- Archwings are a thing of the past! Tenno will soon ride on Dargyns, the Grineer’s combat ships, in the Plains
- The new round of TennoGen is here for PC. These are skins for Warframe designed by fans through the Steam Workshop
Khora’s release could still take a while – It’s related to “Damage 2.5”
Khora will be Warframe No. 35. It was already known that she would not be released until 2018. Devstream 104 made it clear that the developers are still dissatisfied with Khora’s abilities.
Khora’s rework is connected to a major overhaul of the three physical damage types (Impact, Puncture, and Slash) taking place this year. This overhaul is called “Damage 2.5”. Khora is supposed to switch between the three physical damage types on missions with one of her skills.
The current issue is that the physical damage type “Slash” dominates. The three types are supposed to receive a better balance with the rework, so that all are relevant.
Digital Extremes was concerned that no one would experiment with Khora’s damage type switches, as “Slash” is currently so strong. After Digital Extremes announced the plans for “Damage 2.5” in the dev workshop, the developers received feedback from players. Based on the feedback, the original plans for “Damage 2.5” are being thrown out and revised.
As a result, Khora has been uncoupled from “Damage 2.5” and will receive a pre-rework before her release. However, it is still unknown what the rework will look like.
Put the Archwings away on the Plains! Players will soon be able to ride the Dargyns of the Grineer
The Plains of Eidolon are a large open-world map in Warframe, where footpaths can be quite lengthy, even for super-fast space ninjas.
Archwings are mechanical wings that allow players to soar high into the skies. However, you need to build the wings first to use them on the Plains. This problem will soon be a thing of the past.
Because players will soon be able to hop into the Grineer’s Dargyns and take off with the combat ships! This is a bit like riding a hovercraft. When players exit the combat ships, the Dargyns will fall to the ground and can be used again later.
The lower image shows Community Manager Rebecca Ford flying through the Plains with the Dragyn. Judging by her expression, it looks like fun!
The Prime Vault opens for these three Prime frames on February 6
If a certain item lands in the Prime Vault’s safe, players will no longer have access to it. However, sometimes certain items can be retrieved from the Prime Vault at specific times. This will be done via Prime Vault packages. The packages can contain Prime items and exclusive Prime Access accessories.
On February 6, the Prime Vault will open for:
- Ember Prime
- Loki Prime
- Frost Prime
These three Prime Warframes will then be available to players again for a limited time.
TennoGen 11 is now available on PC and brings new community skins
The first round of TennoGen 11 has been released on PC. A total of 3 rounds are planned to release the community skins from TennoGen 11. This time, 34 skins made it to Warframe. That’s too many to release all at once.
What else was revealed in Devstream 104 about Warframe?
In addition to the mentioned plans, the developers mentioned:
- Morality system: Anyone who completes the story quests in Warframe encounters the morality system. Along the way, players have the opportunity to make moral decisions. However, these have yet to impact gameplay. The morality system is planned to be revised in the future. The goal is for players to feel the consequences of their decisions much faster.
- New content: Story quest and new open-world map. The team is currently working hard on the new story quest, which has already been initiated on PC with an epilogue. In addition, they are working on an open-world map that is supposed to be larger than the Plains of Eidolon.
- New augment mods for Titania, Harrow, Nidus, and Equinox: These new modifications were supposed to be presented during the stream. However, a fire alarm interrupted the team, and they had to evacuate the studio. The stream was cut off here. Therefore, it is currently only known which frames will receive new augment mods.
