For Warframe, two new frames have been announced: Hildryn and Wisp. Hildryn will not have an energy pool to use her abilities. Instead, the developers have come up with something new.
Warframes have four unique skills that they can use in combat. To use these abilities at all, the frames need energy. This can be compared to a mana pool from other games.
Each Warframe actually has a base pool of energy. However, Hildryn does not.
Hildryn uses shields as an energy pool
New mechanic in Warframe: Hildryn will be able to use her abilities by drawing from her shield pool. This has not been seen before in Warframe. How this works in detail is still unknown.
Hildryn is expected to gain some features that will provide buffs to her team. Shield buffs would be conceivable if Hildryn’s kit is already designed to build on shield energy.
Also new: New Warframes always come with their own special weapon. This can be either a primary, secondary, or melee weapon. However, Hildryn comes with an Archwing weapon. Archwings are like jetpacks in Warframe and are equipped with a weapon arsenal.
In the clip below, you can see Hildryn, and at the end, there is an “interesting” bug to observe.
Another Warframe Wisp revealed
Little is known about Wisp: So far, there is only a drawing of Wisp. Wisp is also the working title for the frame, and the name may still change. Wisp is a female Warframe.
In the image below, you can see Wisp on the left side and Hildryn on the right side.
A huge 2019 for Warframe: The developers at Digital Extremes also present their roadmap for 2019, which will be massive. Here’s what to expect:
- A new story quest “The New War,” related to the main quests like Second Dream, War Within, or Sacrifice
- In summer, the expansion “Warframe: Empyrean” will come, introducing huge spaceship battles
- Warframe will introduce seasons with daily and weekly challenges
- The difficulty will be overhauled for a better balance between new and old players
