The Viking game “Land of the Vikings” is currently available in Early Access on Steam. The player manages a village where each resident has individual strengths and weaknesses, making them suitable for specific jobs.
What is Land of the Vikings about? The game is a settlement-building simulator with elements of strategy and survival games.
The player takes on the role of the leader in a Viking village, becoming what is known as a “Jarl”. As such, you work to expand your settlement further.

What does the gameplay of Land of the Vikings look like? In the game, you manage the village’s resources, withstand the forces of nature, and fend off enemy attacks.
As a Jarl, the player must know each and every one of their Vikings, because: The NPCs each have their own personality. In total, 20 traits define a person in the village.
Therefore, you should consider the skills and abilities of each Viking when assigning tasks. Because not every NPC is well-suited for every job. For example, the values to keep in mind are:
- Happiness
- Strength
- Speed
- Intelligence
In addition, there are certain traits and peculiarities that influence the abilities of the Viking NPCs, such as charisma, bravery, laziness, and cunning.
The player gathers resources by having trees felled, taking care of field cultivation, and sending NPCs hunting. Minerals can also be mined, and fish can be caught.
Especially in winter, enough resources must be available to survive the cold season. Additionally, there are natural forces like earthquakes or lightning that can cause fires.
With your Viking neighbors, you can trade and also send a crew by ship to sell goods. There is also the option to forcibly seize goods by sending the player to raid other villages.
To expand your village, you build up civilization as you see fit and try to achieve high satisfaction among the population. Progress is rewarded with “Fame Points”, which can be used to unlock new types of buildings on the great “Tree of Life”.
How do players rate Land of The Vikings? The ratings for the game are very good – however, there are currently only very few reviews. Of the 50 ratings, 80% are positive (as of November 9, 2022, via Steam)
How much does Land of the Vikings currently cost? The game is currently on introductory offer on Steam. Until November 18, 2022, Land of the Vikings is reduced by 10% and costs €17.99 instead of €19.99 (as of November 9, 2022).
