A new week has begun in Destiny 2 and with it new content that players can explore after a long dry spell. The positive aspect is that there is indeed something worth grinding for: the hoverboard.
What is the hoverboard? The hoverboard is in Destiny 2 a new vehicle that players can earn during the temporary event of the Guardian Games 2024 through a quest. Players only knew the tried and true Sparrow, which has been around since the beginning of Destiny 1.
However, apart from cosmetic variations, there were no alternative means of transportation they could call their own. With the hoverboard, that is supposed to change. Players will have the chance to earn a hoverboard during the event, which will not only make them look cooler but also allow them to perform stunts and use additional features that a Sparrow does not offer.
How do I obtain the new vehicle? To unlock the hoverboard, you first need to complete the quest “Class Primus” with Eva Levante at the Tower. After that, she will grant you a new quest where you can unlock an exotic version of the “Allstar Vector.” In this quest, you only have to complete one of three tasks.
During the event, you will receive a normal version of the “Allstar Vector,” but this will expire once the event is over. If you want a permanent hoverboard, you must complete the quest or purchase an exotic bundle in the Eververse for 2500 Silver.
The hoverboard is actually well-received in the community, and fans are taking advantage of their new vehicle to gain advantages in dungeons.
Players use new vehicle to skip dungeons
Besides cool stunts, a community player is using the hoverboard to skip an entire section of the dungeon “Prophecy.” Esoterickk, who is known for his solo and flawless runs in many dungeons and strikes, took the hoverboard into the dungeon to skip the Sparrow section.
The video starts at the point where Esoterickk skips the phase:
Esoterickk is utilizing the new grinding function. He creates a trail with his board that he can balance on, crossing the deep abysses of the dimension piece by piece.
From time to time, he has to call a new board to grind again, but ultimately he reaches the goal to confront the final boss of the dungeon. So, not only can you perform cool stunts, but you can also skip entire sections of dungeons if they allow it.
What are players saying about the new “Sparrow”? Reddit user RetroRampage1997 already knows that the hoverboards are the better Sparrows in the game. According to him, they offer many more advantages and are also better suited for flying. The following comments can be heard in the thread:
- Dioroxic: “Dude, I just played Prophecy with the hoverboard, and do you know that long Sparrow section with the wavy carpet bridges? Just grind over it.”
- Background-Stuff: “A rare Bungie W these days, I’m taking it.”
- oliferro: “Makes the Sparrow section in Avarice really easy”
- RayS0l0: “10/10 Bungie, keep it up”
- Karglenoofus: “I’ll be mad if they remove or nerf these things. It’s the most fun I’ve had since crafting.”
