Heart of Madness is the largest patch that New World has received so far. It brings a new dungeon, a new weapon, and several general improvements. And the fans really appreciate it.
What does the update bring? The largest update for the MMORPG New World is finally here. It brings a whole bunch of improvements and a new dungeon that is aimed at endgame players. The update was released after several delays on March 31.
In the new dungeon Heart of the Stormwind, the story finally comes to a big showdown with the antagonist Isabella, who naturally offers decent loot for the MMORPG’s endgame.
The highlights of the new update are, in addition to the dungeon:
- The new weapon “Thunder Rifle,” which is effective at medium to close range and scales with Intelligence.
- Some quality-of-life improvements and adjustments.
- New loot for the endgame.

What does the update unintentionally bring? Not uncommon for New World, but still worth mentioning, the update also introduces new bugs to the MMORPG. This time, however, they are mostly limited to slowly loading textures or strange-looking running animations.
Some players report larger issues with lags, especially in combat. However, we could not observe this in our own tests so far. The texture problem also occurred only in a few areas during direct testing.

Nevertheless, fans were prepared for such or worse incidents. There were already warnings on reddit before the patch. One player even said, “Remember to take your items out of the market; it will crash again anyway.”
The mood in the community following the update is very positive, especially since there are far fewer bugs than many feared, along with really good new features.

How are the fans reacting? The update is being very well received by the community on reddit. Especially the new weapon is a big highlight for many. With it, thanks to a kind of grappling hook, players can pull themselves towards enemies, leading to all kinds of mischief. And players love it.
But the dungeon is also very well received by fans. It seems to be fun, challenging, and very rewarding. One player wrote on reddit that he was able to drop almost a completely new, better armor from the Heart of the Stormwind in one day.
Overall, there is hardly any negative feedback about the update; only the aforementioned lags in combat are complained about by some players. However, people believe that this will be fixed soon. The update seems to be a success for the developers and a hope for the community.
Outside of active players, however, the update has not really reached yet; at least there has only been a very slight change in the number of active players (via Steamcharts).
