On the evening of December 19th, a new update for Call of Duty: Warzone went live. With the patch, several bugs were fixed, but also 2 strong Vanguard weapons are now slightly weaker. MeinMMO lists the complete English patch notes for you.
The most important points at a glance:
- Call of Duty: Warzone has been playing on a new map for almost 2 weeks and received about 40 new weapons with the “Pacific Update”
- After a complete overhaul of almost all Vanguard weapons for Warzone, the new firearms are considered very strong
- Currently, there are quite a few updates to create a balanced and fair weapon meta – this time the strong assault rifles BAR and Cooper Carbine have been weakened

When will the update be available? The update is already online.
How large is the update? It is again a rather small update without its own version number. The download is no more than 250 MB.
What has changed? We will start with the adjustments to gameplay and the bug fixes:
- The event “Shot Sale” now lasts the same amount of time every time
- Fixed locations on Caldera with collision issues
- Removed issues with the progress counting for the Christmas event
- Repaired placeholder images in various bundles in the store
- Removed overlapping text on vehicles with critical damage
- Store bundles showed incorrect “rarities” for the items
- Solved a problem that did not consider the Christmas discount when a bundle was gifted
- Solved a visual problem that displayed prices incorrectly in the shop
- The blueprint “Space Issue” of the MP40 shows the perk “Vital”, but actually has “Support”
What has changed with the weapons? Adjustments have been made for 2 strong Vanguard weapons: the new Cooper Carbine, which caused a stir in close combat, and the BAR, which is home at range:
Cooper Carbine – Assault Rifle
- Maximum base damage reduced to 24 from 25
- Minimum base damage reduced to 19 from 20
- Scope speed reduced by 5.3%
- Barrel: 14″ Gracey Rapid Fire
- Damage multiplier is now 0.9
- Headshot multiplier is now 1.07
- Chest multiplier is now 0.99
- Now increases vertical recoil by 5%
- Magazine: 9mm 60-round Drum
- Damage multiplier increased to 0.96 from 0.89
- Movement speed reduced by 2%
BAR – Assault Rifle
- Barrel: CGC 27″ 2B
- Horizontal recoil control reduced by 5%
- Vertical recoil control reduced by 5%
- Barrel: CGC 30″ XL
- Horizontal recoil control reduced by 5%
- Vertical recoil control reduced by 5%

The developers explain their thoughts behind the changes: The developers have also explained in the patch notes how the adjustments came about and what plans are being pursued with the weapon meta.
They explain that due to attachments, it is very difficult to balance a weapon in the way they envision for the Vanguard weapons. Since you can add up to 10 attachments to a weapon and individual attachments change the weapons like never before, they have to keep all eventualities in mind.
With the adjustments, they want to ensure that different setups for weapons are worthwhile and not always just the “Rapid Fire” option, which increases your rate of fire and damage.
The BAR is a good example of this. With the new values of the barrels, you have to choose options for the other attachments to improve recoil control. However, if you manage well with the new recoil, you can also improve your mobility or other attributes.
The developers want to find a suitable balance of risk and reward for each weapon – how much is a worse control worth compared to better movement or other advantages. All weapon changes follow exactly this thought.
The nasty monster Krampus, which is currently hunting players on Caldera, doesn’t care about this at all: Players in CoD Warzone are currently being brutally taken down by a fairy tale monster.
