The new PvP game Hood: Outlaws & Legends (PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S) shows its “Heists” in a new trailer. In these, you compete against other players trying to steal treasures to improve yourself. Additionally, there’s a look at the four classes.
What is Hood? The new PvP action game for PC and console combines stealth gameplay with PvP and PvE. You are to steal a treasure as a robber, like the namesake Robin Hood. However, you primarily use these treasures to improve yourself.
You play Hood in a group of four characters in co-op against other teams with the same goal. The treasures are protected by NPCs that you must take out or bypass to get to your loot.
In terms of gameplay, Hood: Outlaws & Legends roughly resembles an “Assassin’s Creed: Sherwood Forest” – only with a real multiplayer option.
What the trailer shows: The developers have released a new trailer in which both the “Heists” and the classes are presented. This gives you a glimpse into the gameplay of the game and how you play with and against other players.
The trailer shows many stealth passages but also action-packed close combat and unique abilities for the different classes. We have embedded it here for you:
Heists like in GTA with PvP like in Hunt: Showdown
These are Heists: As explained in the video, you are supposed to steal a treasure from a guarded area on various maps. In doing so, you must take out or bypass the guards and then carry the loot out of the area. This is how it works:
- first, you infiltrate the opponent’s fortress
- then you capture spawn points and search for the vault key
- the key is guarded by the sheriff, a particularly powerful opponent
- afterwards, you must find and loot the vault
This already sounds similar to the Heists from GTA, only in the Middle Ages. However, there is a special twist in Hood. Once you have the loot, you can be attacked by other NPCs (the “sheriff”) and other players.
You face off against other players in each round, who can ambush you on your way out or even in the vault room to claim the treasure for themselves. This works similarly to the popular Hunt: Showdown, in which you must obtain and bring back a trophy.
What do I do with the loot? With the treasures, you can expand your hideout to gain access to “a wide range of services”. This includes a larger offer from the merchants and new perks for the characters.
With costumes and weapons, you can further customize and personalize your heroes.
Four unique classes with their own roles
These are the classes: The trailer shows four classes, all inspired by the legendary Robin Hood. Each hero has its own role and special abilities:
- Ranger (Robin): Fights with a longbow and can eliminate tough opponents from a great distance. Also has special ammunition and a type of flash grenade.
- Hunter (Marianne): An assassin who is extremely deadly at close range. Fights with a hand crossbow, camouflage, and smoke bombs.
- Brawler (John): A powerful melee fighter who crushes opponents with a huge hammer and can even lay bombs.
- Mystic (Took): Supports the team with revives, crowd control, and poison.
When can I play Hood? The official release of Hood is on May 10, 2021, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and 5, as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The game is supposed to connect the platforms even via crossplay.
