With Raiden Shogun, one of the most coveted characters comes to Genshin Impact. Now there is finally a trailer for her that gives a deep insight.
What is it about? As announced in the livestream for patch 2.1, the new character Baal (Raiden Shogun) will be available in the game on September 1. Before the release of each, individual character trailers are released by mihoYo. This is also true for Raiden Shogun:
Why does the trailer give deep insights? Raiden Shogun has made it her mission to take the divine eye from the residents of Inazuma. No one knew so far why she is so eager about it. The trailer shows Raiden’s past and how one by one all her friends disappear. She seems unwilling to let people obtain the power of the divine eye in order to retain the power to harm others with it. She wants to create her own positive eternity, where no one has to die because of this power.
If this assumption is correct, Raiden may not be the “mean, evil character who hates everyone” but wants to prevent others from experiencing her suffering.
What we already know about Raiden Shogun
When was she announced? Raiden Shogun was announced on July 22 on Twitter by Genshin Impact. In a week she will finally be available for the community to play.
This is what Raiden Shogun can do:
- Baal possesses the divine eye Electro
- She is a 5-star character
- As her main weapon, she uses a polearm. Only her special ability briefly reverts to a katana

- Attack:
- Basic attack: Five polearm strikes forward
- Heavy hit: Consumes some stamina and performs an upward strike
- Elemental ability, “Wonders – Sinister Gaze”:
- Deals Electro damage to nearby enemies and grants nearby teammates the buff “Eye of Stormy Judgment”
- “Eye of Stormy Judgment”:
- When characters with this buff deal damage, the buff deals coordinated Electro area damage every 0.9 seconds
- Characters with this buff receive additional damage for their special ability. The damage depends on the energy cost of the special ability
- In multiplayer, other players deal 20% more damage
- Special ability, “Secret Art – Musou Shinsetsu”:
- Her basic attacks, heavy hits, and fall attacks now deal Electro damage that cannot be overwritten by other abilities
- If her attacks hit during the duration, she can restore elemental energy for the party every second. The effect can be activated five times
- During this duration, Raiden is immune to damage from Electro reactions and can be less easily interrupted during attacks
- Her attacks are considered special ability damage during the duration
- If Baal leaves the field, the special ability ends
