A new trailer for Destiny 2 Beyond Light shows what awaits players beneath the icy surface of the DLC location Europa. Two mysterious characters that players have been waiting for years are featured. MeinMMO takes a look at what else is hidden in the video.
New trailer for Beyond Light: Bungie released a new trailer for the upcoming expansion Beyond Light on September 22. The focus of the clip is this time on the DLC location Europa, the icy moon of the planet Jupiter.
- The frozen surface, including ice lakes, snow-covered ruins, and alien artifacts is shown
- Inside the celestial body, modern research facilities and laboratories are hidden
The trailer does not offer a contemplative panorama view but, to thumping music, also gives you a glimpse of the new Stasis abilities and scores with exciting action.

Who is speaking? In the trailer, two people speak to you:
- Starting with the Fallen Variks (in the title image): There has been no trace of the character with the unmistakable accent for years. But we know that he was the one who initiated the outbreak in the Prison of Elders. Uldren was freed, and Cayde-6 found his tragic end – so we still have a word or two to say with this traitor.
- Next, we hear the Exo-Stranger: This is the Destiny character who doesn’t have enough time to explain why they don’t have time. In Beyond Light, she is finally supposed to play a significant role. Guardians have been wanting to know what her deal is for almost 6 years – even Destiny director Luke Smith hinted that her non-ghost will become important.
Players have long been puzzled about the fate of these two characters, and neither has made a personal appearance in Destiny yet. Here you can read who Variks actually is and why all Guardians want to deal with him.
What else is exciting to see about Beyond Light?
In the trailer, we also briefly see a new weapon that, in old Bungie tradition, could be a new Exotic. There will also be a new mission where we get to take control of a tank, and the ominous pyramids make their appearance.
We also see new enemy types in action:
- A new Vex Harpy: The unit flies above the Guardians, has glowing tentacles, and is about to launch a suicide kamikaze maneuver. Who else remembers these parts from the Gorgons in the Vault of Glass?
- Fallen combat robots: Well, we know them for example as a raid boss in the Scourge of the Past and from short video snippets for Beyond Light. But now we see for the first time that they seem to be normal enemies that we face in a battle.
- In the end, we see special Stasis Fallen: these use the icy powers of darkness like we do.
In the camera movements inside the underground complexes, we see the logo of Braytech. The corporation is behind the engrams, the race of Exos, and was founded by the family of our Hunter companion Ana Bray.
We also see an Exo body with a Vex robot together in a tank – very mysterious.
We already know that the new raid of Beyond Light is supposed to lead us to the Deep Stone Crypt, the birthplace of the Exos.
Finally, for a brief moment, a mysterious gate or portal appears, towards which a Guardian walks. Is this perhaps the entrance to the new raid?
How did you like the trailer? Until now, the focus of the trailers has always been on the new Stasis element; finally, we also know (a little) more about the new location. Did you find any exciting details with your eagle eyes?
On which side will the dubious Variks stand? Would you like to see him eliminated, just like these 3 characters: Destiny 2 apparently kills 3 characters you know – but since it’s text, no one notices
