RICOCHET, the new anti-cheat system for CoD Warzone and Vanguardd started a week ago. Official social media announced that over 48,000 cheater accounts were banned in a single day. But is that enough to solve the problem?
In Call of Duty, there has been a well-known cheater problem since the release of Warzone. The highly anticipated and urgently needed new anti-cheat system named RICOCHET was developed to help with that. Cheaters should be better identified and banned forever from all CoD games.
Last week the new cheat tool launched globally. Now, the official Twitter account for Call of Duty has reported that a large ban wave occurred in a single day. But is that enough to solve the problem?
Developers say: 48,000 cheaters banned in a day – thanks to RICOCHET
What happened? On Twitter, the official Call of Duty account stated that 48,000 cheater accounts were banned in CoD Warzone and Vanguard. This happened in a single day, on December 21.
According to the tweet, it is specifically the new cheat tool RICOCHET that is responsible for this. Accordingly, these accounts should be banned forever from all CoD games.
In August, it was reported that over 500,000 players were banned since the launch of Warzone in March 2020 until August 2021 (via VGC). How many more have been added until yesterday’s ban wave is not specifically known.
Are these measures sufficient?
The major problem with modern CoD games is cheaters. Especially since the launch of Warzone, they have been annoying the community. The immense popularity of the free battle royale and crossplay contributes to the size of the problem.
Fans have high expectations for the new anti-cheat system RICOCHET.
According to the latest statements, thanks to RICOCHET, 48,000 players were banned in a single day, compared to 500,000 in about 1.5 years. However, these numbers do not reflect how quickly cheater accounts have proliferated since then and continue to grow. Thus, it is unclear how many cheaters are actually being identified and how many there are in total.
Accordingly, it cannot be clearly seen whether RICOCHET can completely solve the problem. However, the numbers are impressive in any case – regarding both the number of cheaters and the apparent effectiveness of RICOCHET.

But not only cheaters upset the CoD community. They are absolutely dissatisfied with the current state of the games:
