These have crystallized over the years and create an ideal coexistence, where everyone considers one another. A few things annoy the longtime players, such as:
- If new players simply start events. It’s better to wait for more people so that everyone gets their rewards.
- If you trade with others for no reason. Veterans are happy to give you something, but usually, you will find it simply in camps directly on the side of the road or in containers where experienced players deposit some goodies. Begging, on the other hand, is annoying.
- Microphones that are not turned off. When you are on the go, you can talk to others. Don’t let your mic continuously transmit; very few want to listen to your vacuum cleaner or your videos.

Additionally, it’s not very effective if you just shoot at people. PvP is turned off by default and only possible in certain areas. You cannot sneakily murder someone while they are crafting – and even if they were attackable, a veteran at a much higher level would simply wipe you out.

Another “mistake” that many experienced players see in newbies is the desire to have everything right away. Fallout 76 is more of a story game, similar to previous Fallout titles – just with multiplayer.
