The beautiful multiplayer role-playing game Book of Travels has announced that it will postpone the launch of Early Access on Steam. The decision came due to the many feedbacks that the developers collected during the beta tests.
It was announced: In a community post on Steam, the developers stated that the Early Access of Book of Travels is being postponed. The TMORPG, that is “tiny”-MORPG, was originally supposed to release its “Chapter Zero” on August 30 and be playable for pre-orderers.
During the closed beta, the developers received a large amount of feedback and reports from the testers, which prompted the team to postpone Early Access.
We want to deliver an Early Access that we can stand behind. But believe us when we say that this decision was not easy for us, and we understand the disappointment of everyone who couldn’t wait to dive into the game this summer. At the same time, we believe that we owe it to the game, ourselves, and most importantly to you, that Book of Travels meets our standards.
Developer post on Steam
With the Early Access, the actual release of the game is also pushed back, as the developers plan to have Early Access run for about two years.
Why is the game being postponed? The developers do not provide a concrete reason. It is only stated that “ample feedback and reports” were received, which made a postponement seem sensible.
What is the new start of Early Access? There is no new date for the start of Early Access yet. The team does not want to release a specific date until they are sure they can meet the new deadline.
How can I sign up for Early Access? If you are interested in Book of Travels and definitely want to be part of Early Access, you can do so by supporting the game on Kickstarter. Access begins only from the “The Secret Cultist” pledge, which is around €85 (via kickstarter).
The rewards for the money are, of course, much more extensive than just Early Access. You will also receive in-game items, artworks, a digital lore compendium, the complete soundtrack, and a whole range of other bonuses.
An unusual multiplayer RPG without chat
This is the focus of Book of Travels: The small multiplayer game is characterized by placing great value on role-playing. Your character sets out on a journey in the game to explore the in-game world. There will be neither tutorials nor other assistance. Players must figure everything out by themselves.
They also cannot communicate in chat with normal language. The chat is completely absent in Book of Travels. Instead, communication with other players takes place non-verbally through emotes. Similar to what you might know from the mobile and Switch game Sky: Children of Light.
In this way, players cannot accidentally go “out-of-character” by conversing casually without staying in their role. Therefore, in Book of Travels, it is important to learn new emotes. This way, you can interact better with other players and convey information to them.
As the non-verbal communication and the artworks already suggest, Book of Travels will be a tranquil game where you can simply drift and enjoy the landscapes.
