Destiny 2 has teased a reveal for Beyond Light today. But what exactly does Bungie want to show? After initial confusion, the theme should at least be clear now.
This is about the teaser: Yesterday, Bungie released a new teaser for the upcoming major fall expansion Destiny 2: Beyond Light. And this time it was not about Stasis.
Under the name “Beneath the Ice”, Bungie showed 2 new weapons – the exotic rifle of the Stranger and presumably also an exotic sniper rifle.
Accompanying the images of the weapons and the new location, the moon Europa of Jupiter, you can also hear a sort of radio address from Eramis. She is the Kell of Darkness, the leader of a Fallen Empire on Europa. She tries to convince her Fallen brothers and sisters across the solar system that the future of the Fallen race lies in the darkness.
At the end of the clip, a sort of reveal for October 7, which is today, is teased. Here you can watch the teaser in German:
What is the confusion about? Initially, only the English teaser titled Beneath the Ice went live. Following that, the hype train started rolling for many, sparking all sorts of discussions about what Bungie could reveal or show today.
Speculations included:
- fresh details about the new raid in the Deep Stone Crypt
- the introduction of new exotics
- a new ViDoc from the developers about Beyond Light
- the potential return of the Icebreaker in an updated form (after all, Bungie would never just encase a sniper in ice and then let it shatter audibly)
- a live stream about Beyond Light
- new details about the “Beneath the Ice” part of the new location Europa
- a new story trailer
In short: Initially, there was uncertainty and confusion regarding the possible theme of today’s reveal. However, many are excited and looking forward to the new information.
What will be revealed about Beyond Light tonight: By now, the topic is at least already clear. Today, Destiny 2 will be about new weapons and equipment.
Because some time after the English teaser, more and more localized videos went online on YouTube. And there, the teaser from yesterday is titled “Beyond Light – Weapons and Equipment” in numerous languages, in contrast to the English “Beneath the Ice” version.
So it is highly likely that it is about new weapons and equipment from the upcoming expansion of Destiny 2. However, the format in which this whole thing will be presented remains open.
Many believe a stream to be unlikely, as Bungie has not specified a time and channels, which would be unusual for a live broadcast. Instead, it is most likely that a new trailer or a new ViDoc will be presented along with a new blog post on Bungie’s official homepage.
