New system for old weapons divides Destiny 2 community – What do you think?

Bungie has now presented details about the new infusion system in Destiny 2. It mainly concerns old weapons. The topic is hotly debated in the MeinMMO community. What is your opinion on this?

What is it about? At the end of February 2019, a wave of discussions swept through the Destiny community. The developer Bungie announced that the way you use your weapons would change significantly in the future.

Now there are more precise details about the system:

• Each legendary weapon or armor will have a maximum power level, which can be achieved through infusion
• This power level corresponds to the level cap that can be reached 3 seasons after the item is released. The items will remain relevant for about 1 year
• The weapons and armor will not be destroyed afterwards and can be used, they simply cannot be brought to the then highest power level
• It does not matter when you obtain the item; the “expiration date” will be calculated from the time of the item’s release
• There is a chance that the weapons will receive a reissue in a later season, which can then be strengthened accordingly
• There will no longer be a seasonal mod slot on armor – in the new fourth slot, all mods from the 4 relevant seasons can be automatically equipped

It has its pros and cons:

• This would make many equipment items in higher content useless over time, regardless of whether they have a god roll or were farmed painstakingly
• It prevents two extremes: If old equipment is better than new season items, players would always use the same old items. If new equipment is always better, power creep occurs: New items must still be stronger than the previous ones.
