In April 2019, the new expansion Onslaught for the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic was announced. Now Bioware has announced an official release date.
When is Onslaught releasing? The new expansion for SWTOR is set to release on October 22, 2019. It will be released about a month later than originally announced, than it was originally announced.
Why is Onslaught coming out only in October? According to an official statement from Bioware, more time is needed to thoroughly test all the new features.
So far, not all changes have been released on the test servers. To ensure that the expansion does not launch with errors, the developers want to take more time.
What about the Nautolans? In the announcement of the expansion, it was stated that all subscribers on the day of Onslaught’s release will have access to the Nautolans.
Due to the delay, Bioware is extending the period for unlocking the new playable species. All players who had an active subscription between September 1, 2019 and October 22, 2019 will now receive the Nautolans.
The conflict between the Republic and the Empire is the focus
What is Onslaught about? In the new SWTOR expansion, the war between the Republic and the Empire is once again in the spotlight. It causes chaos in the galaxy and piracy and crime are drastically increasing.
While the Republic desperately tries to rally forces to Corellia and defend against attacks, the Sith Empire is already confident of victory.
What are the major innovations in Onslaught? The new story is supposed to lead players to two new areas:
- The planet Onderon with large jungle areas and dangerous creatures. It was a loyal member of the Republic for a long time but now has a new king.
- The asteroid Mek-Sha, which hosts an industrial city that was formerly under the control of the Hutts and is now a place for thieves and smugglers.
In addition to the planets, there are also further innovations. These include:
- Increase of the level cap to 75.
- A new flashpoint on Corellia.
- A new operation on Dxun, the largest moon of Onderon.
- The new war loot system.
- The already mentioned new playable species Nautolans.
What else is happening in SWTOR? In recent months, there have been some small innovations for the MMORPG. In June, a new event was introduced on Dantooine that cautiously hints at the conflict of the new expansion.
Additionally, SWTOR relaxed the restrictions for free-to-play players in July. They can now collect more credits and have access to fast travel.
The new expansion will be very important for SWTOR fans. Here’s why:
